Resident Evil 4 Remake El Gigante Boss Guide

El Gigante is the second major boss fight in Resident Evil 4 Remake. El Gigante are failed bio organic weapons developed by Los Iluminados. They stand four times taller than the average human and possess superhuman strength and durability. Unfortunately for Los Iluminados, the experiment resulted in an uncontrollable mass of destruction and rage.

Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong encounter a number of these creatures throughout their mission in Resident Evil 4. But the one we’re going to talk about is the boss fight inside the village quarry.

This guide will tell you how to make quick work of the giant behemoth and ultimately save you some bullets and healing sprays in the process. Considering this is one boss fight that happens relatively early in the game, you might not need to overly complicate things.

How to defeat El Gigante in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The first time Leon faces off against El Gigante was when he was led into a trap by Los Iluminados. They had effectively locked the gate behind our protagonist and let loose El Gigante on him.

The first thing you need to do is to frustrate El Gigante. You can do this by shooting him multiple times with your weapon or knife him until he’s had enough of your shenanigans. At this point, all you’re trying to do is engage him to the point that he exposes the plagas parasite in his back. The parasite reveals itself after El Gigante roars and starts to enrage.

Use this small window of time to deal damage to the parasite as it is the one thing keeping El Gigante alive. Don’t get caught up with just killing the parasite, however. If you see El Gigante thrashing his arms around, that means he is getting ready to charge. Quickly move out of the way and quickly shoot at his back once the giant hits the wall.

Once you’ve inflicted enough damage, El Gigante will be forced onto his knees. This will leave the parasite open to a quick time event when Leon slashes it. This actually goes a long way in damaging El Gigante and saves you a lot of bullets in the long run. But be aware that slashing at the parasite will cause your knife to degrade quickly. The same applies should you decide to slash at his legs.

Once the giant is back on his feet, simply repeat the process until you enrage him all over again. Eventually, El Gigante will start to pick up shacks around the arena in an attempt to them at you. Do not let him if you can. It might turn out to be fatal.

Keep shooting at the parasite and he’ll go down like a sack of potatoes.

The El Gigante boss fight is one where you need to prioritize a bullseye on a boss. This is a common theme in pretty much all Resident Evil games. Except for this time, you are not shooting a glowing yellow weak spot, you’re taking down a photorealistic giant parasite. But the results are the same.

    Rewards for Defeating El Gigante

And for your troubles, you’ll have earned a yellow diamond. And only the yellow diamond. No trophies to get here, sadly.

Till next we meet in another boss guide, agents.
