Lately, some upcoming titles from Steam got updated by their publishers, changing their release dates from a specific date to “Coming Soon”. It was officially confirmed a few months back that it was going to launch on March 24, 2023 and this sudden change has got many fans worried.
“Is development still good?” “Did the game catch the ‘delay’ sickness?” “What about our preorders?” were most of the statements read online after this quite sudden change on the PC platform. Then some fans were quick to notice that the official website and other social media accounts of the franchise say it is still launching on the date announced. It was then revealed that it was not actually a delay because it had to do with Steam.
According to Rely on Horror, it was revealed that Valve recently changed how the Steam storefront would handle the release dates. Their policy now is to allow publishers to just list the release dates as Coming Soon, instead of saying the specific date. Aside from Resident Evil 4 Remake, various other upcoming titles were also got affected. One of those is Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield.
So no, there is no delay guys. It’s just Steam making sudden changes. We are still playing RE4 Remake after two months!
