Some players of Splatoon 3 have come to spam posts in the game after the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The late queen of Britain died last week and it had made quite an impact on many people all over the world, especially in Europe. Some have expressed their mourning in various ways and surprisingly, there were gamers involved, particularly the ones who played Splatoon 3, a newly released game on Nintendo Switch.
The game had a mechanic where players could indirectly communicate with each other by painting graffiti on the walls or by drawing illustrations for pop-up text boxes above their characters. Many have expressed their condolences for the queen’s death and some might have gone overboard by spamming the message “The Queen is Dead” over and over again in the hub city.
Some of the messages say that the queen might have loved Splatoon 3. Since the late queen got a Nintendo Wii in 2008 as a gift from Catherine, some posted that message since she loved playing games on Nintendo consoles. Others posted other messages related to the queen’s death and others were memes.
Nintendo did not block the players after this fiasco, but only moderated the situation. It seems the spam messages have now lessened after the game company stepped in.
Splatoon 3 is now available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
