The official FAQ page of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League has now confirmed that the game will need a constant online connection to play.
The official line from the FAQ page reads, “Yes, an internet connection is required to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League solo or via online co-op.”
Last night at the State of Play event, it was confirmed that the game would have single-player and co-op modes, where the latter can have up to four players online. This seems to justify the need for an internet connection for co-op online, but the single-player mode does not make sense.
It can only be speculated that the need for a constant internet connection is due to the drop in, drop out co-op mechanic. Unfortunately, the need for an internet connection will cause some unintended problems in the future. The game might become unplayable if ever Warner Bros. Games decide to pull the plug on its servers unless they make it possible to play offline and local multiplayer.
There are a few features that the gaming community dreads not having in a game, including a constant online connection and Denuvo DRM. For now, Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League only has one of the two. It will be bad if the other one gets implemented.
Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League launches on May 26, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
