The Batman has been breaking box-office records at the cinema. However, if you’re waiting for another dose of Robert Pattinson and his version of the Dark Knight, you’re going to have to wait a little while longer. Though the movie continues to rake in the money, we are most likely fast approaching its debut on HBO Max.
Last year, Warner Bros. implemented its plans to release movies day-and-date on HBO Max alongside theatrical runs. It had hoped to reap the full benefits of both cinema and streaming services as quickly as possible. It hasn’t worked out as the studio has hoped.
Warner Bros. may no longer be keen on adding big releases on the same day to HBO Max, the studio hasn’t changed course when it comes to bringing major blockbusters into homes in a timely manner.

When Will ‘The Batman’ Be Available to Stream on HBO Max?
‘The Batman’ will be available to stream on HBO Max on April 19, 2022. WarnerMedia CEO, Jason Kilar, told the Recode podcast back in December that “The Batman’s going to show up on day 46 on HBO Max.” This announcement puts the release date on April 19th, 2022. This was later confirmed by HBO after a glitch on the streaming service all but confirms the previously established date.
First reported by Deadline, the technical glitch on the HBO website accidentally revealed the HBO Max and pay cable network’s premiere dates. The listing has since been removed.
Though the listing has been removed, searching on HBO Max right now with “Batman” as the search term reveals plenty of other media that’ll keep you occupied while waiting for The Batman to hit the streaming service. You can watch the entirety of the Norlan Trilogy, Ben Affleck’s version of Batman V. Superman, and an entire library of animated movies such as The Killing Joke and all the Bat-Family movies.
How Long Will ‘The Batman’ Be On HBO Max?
New movies, especially those on HBO Max, are usually available for a limited time. Unfortunately, we don’t know yet just how long The Batman will be available to stream. We’ll only ever know once the title shows up on the “Leaving Soon” section of the service.
There is also the possibility of it being part of the permanent collection since it is a Warner Brothers production. But to play it safe, you’d best catch the movie on the streaming service sooner rather than later.
The Batman Spin-off
HBO Max has given a straight-to-series order to the movie’s spinoff called The Penguin. Colin Farrell returns to reprise his role as one of Gotham’s most infamous kingpins. It’ll pick up where the movie left off in terms of what comes next for the villain.
