The Callisto Protocol Gameplay Trailer Features Strategy
This is the first look at some of the new features that the game will be having this week at Gamescom 2022. It features how brutal gameplay is and can be strategic as well as long as players know how to use the weapons and tools that they have.
The Callisto Protocol is a unique mix of ranged shooting and brutal melee, according to CEO Glen Schofield. The protagonist has a unique gravity weapon called the GRP or Grip. It allows players to quickly move between ranged and melee combat.
The studio wanted players to have options but also wanted them to be scared of every encounter as they get up close and personal with enemies. They are quite terrifying indeed as the footage shows they can mutate into something else that could make them more desperate to kill such monstrosities.
Mutations are Deadly
Mutations is an all-new mechanic that was shown in the Gamescom 2022 gameplay video. It adds more depth to the game’s combat. These monsters that can mutate are called Biophage. They are the inmates at Black Iron Prison that have been transformed by a mysterious outbreak that has thrown the moon into chaos. The contagion would ravage the host’s body and it will spread tentacles that would erupt out of their flesh.
When the tentacles emerge, players will need to kill them quickly, or else it will become worse. Just like in the video, even though the player has decapitated its head, the body is still moving. Kill the virus before it is too late.
If players fail to take down the Biophage when the tentacles emerge, the virus will take over and sets off a series of hideous mutations that will make them stronger, harder to kill, and deadlier.
Sewage System Water Slide
In the second scene, the protagonist is thrown into the sewage system after water floods it. He must now try to navigate the waters like in a water slide but deadlier. He will have to face several pillars along the way and evade them or else he will get killed when he gets hit one or two of them as seen at the end of the video.
The Callisto Protocol launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on December 2, 2022.
