Developer Owlcat Games has launched the closed beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, giving early supporters a first hands-on look at its upcoming story-driven sci-fi experience.
The beta is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S for players who purchased the Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack, offering a preview of the game’s combat, zero-gravity movement, and narrative systems ahead of its full release.
Set in the universe of The Expanse, Osiris Reborn places players in the role of a Pinkwater Security mercenary who survives the catastrophic events on Eros. The story unfolds on a remote space station, where players must build a team, navigate alliances, and confront the growing threat of Protogen and its experiments.
During the beta, players can choose between different character origins, including a Belt-born female or an Earth-born male, while selecting from early specializations such as officer or hacker. The experience introduces key companions, including the player’s sibling J and mechanic Zafar, as players explore life aboard Pinkwater Station.
The beta also highlights the game’s emphasis on player choice and dialogue, allowing players to interact with station inhabitants, shape conversations, and influence outcomes. As the story progresses, players will encounter combat scenarios that showcase the game’s third-person action systems and upgrade mechanics.
Owlcat Games confirmed that additional customization options and character backgrounds, including Mars, will be available in the full release. The beta will continue running until launch, with the development team planning to use player feedback to refine the experience.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
