The Wraith is the first chapter in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. In this chapter, Gandalf meets up with Gollum who has been captured by the Elves. The Wizard then tries to question Gollum about the events as to how he ended in Mordor.
Read ahead as we go through the events of Chapter 1: The Wraith of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and share the locations of the collectibles in the chapter, as well as some tips.
Gollum Chapter 1: The Wraith Walkthrough
Chapter 1: The Wraith Objectives:
- Day is near. Go back to your cave!
- Hunt the spy!
- Catch the birds!
- Follow the Orcs!
- Throttle the first Orc!
- Find a stone to throw
- Throw a stone at the lantern!
- Find something to eat.
- Escape the Nazgul!
Day is near. Go back to your cave!
After the cutscene, you will gain control of Gollum as he arrives in Mordor. This first part will serve as the tutorial for controls as you follow the path forward and through the cave towards the Shadow Mountains.
Once you arrive at an area with a stone bridge on top, take the path on the left, climb the rocks, and follow the path to reach hole in the wall. Go through it and you will reach a cave with the Whetstone Collectible.
Head back on the main path and continue following it until you reach a cutscene. Continue towards the path on the right until you arrive in another cave where you will find drawings on the stone. After interacting with the drawings and the bones, go under the hole on the wall to get to the next area.
Hunt the spy!
After the short cutscene, follow the crow as it flies out of the cave. Here, you will learn how to climb up vertical walls and run along walls as well. You will eventually arrive at the top where you will see orcs. Stay in the bushes to keep hidden from them and continue following crow.
Catch the birds!
Climb up the wall to reach the bird nest. Then, go through the cutscene where Gollum gets distracted by a bug.
Follow the Orcs!
After falling into the bushes, you will see two orcs walking. Follow them without getting seen by hiding in the bushes as much as possible. Once they arrive at the gate, climb the wall on the right and continue climbing the vine walls up ahead without losing the orcs.
Throttle the first Orc!
After following the orcs for some time, one of them will continue on while the other stays guard. Sneak up on the guard who stayed and ambush it.
Find a stone to throw
Since the other orc is wearing a helmet, you will need to find another way instead.
Throw a stone at the lantern!
Take a stone on the pile nearby and throw it at the lantern to shut it off. The guard will then fall and get eaten by the spider below.
As you continue, another cutscene will play and a bug will appear. You then get to choose what to do with the bug. After choosing an option, you will then have to convince the other side, either Smeagol or Gollum, on the action that you want to take. Another cutscene will play where you will get spotted. You manage to escape, but you’ll get hurt badly.
Find something to eat.
Head towards the mushroom up ahead and eat it to regain some health. Pick the rest of the mushrooms up ahead and eat them all to get back to full health.
Escape the Nazgul!
Use Gollum’s heightened senses to navigate through the mines and avoid the Nazguls. However, you won’t be able to outrun them forever. The chapter ends and the scene cuts back to Smeagol talking to Gollum.
