The Polar Lizard is the first boss that can be encountered in The Mageseeker. This beast uses its icy powers to drive anyone and anything out of its territory, and Sylas just happens to be within its turf.
Read ahead as we go through the Polar Lizard boss fight in The Mageseeker and share some tips and tricks on how to make the fight as easy as possible.
How to defeat the Polar Lizard
As the name suggests, the Polar Lizard uses the element of ice and imbues it in most of its attacks. The fight is divided into two phases, with each phase having different attack patterns.
Polar Lizard First Phase
In this first phase, the Polar Lizard is almost impervious to any of Sylas’ attacks. However, it will jump out of the arena for a few moments and spawn lava gromps. Sylas can then siphon their fire element to deal significant damage to the Polar Lizard. The fire spell will also deal ticking damage to the boss and leave it vulnerable for a few seconds.
These are the boss’ attacks to watch out for:
- Swing Punch – The boss swings its arm and tail to deal damage around it. Stay away from the flashing red area to avoid the attack.
- Ice Punch – The boss punches the ground and makes ice crystals to crawl towards your last location. The boss can do this once or thrice. Keep strafing around the boss to avoid the crystals.
- Land – After a few moments from disappearing from the map, the boss will land back down. Keep away from the landing site.
Polar Lizard Second Phase
After getting the boss’ health down to 50%, it will flee. You will then get to encounter it once again in the latter part of the level, with its health still at 50%. This time, it will not summon lava gromps anymore, and it will gain different attacks. Some time during the fight, Leilani will arrive and help Sylas gain a fire spell that he can use against the boss.
These are the boss’ attacks to watch out for:
- Swing Punch – A similar attack from the first phase.
- Ice Punch – A similar attack from the first phase.
- Icicle Drop – The boss will summon icicles in the air and make them drop on the ground. Avoid the shadows of the icicles.
After defeating the Polar Lizard, you will unlock the Everfrost achievement.
