The Super Mario Bros. Movie is continuing its streak of breaking global box office records and has now achieved a new significant milestone.
According to a new report by The Hollywood Reporter, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has now cleared $1.2248 billion in worldwide ticket sales this week. This has directly placed it as the third biggest animated movie ever and has overtaken the previous third-place animated film The Incredibles 2 which gained $1.243 billion.
The Numbers, a site that collates global movie ticket sales data, the two films above The Super Mario Bros. Movie are Frozen movies: Frozen 2 ($1.284 billion) and Frozen ($1.452 billion). Still, the third-place film might overtake Frozen 2 if it gains more ticket sales in the future.
It is the biggest film of 2023 to date, which is way ahead of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It only grossed $659 million.
