A new report has revealed that The Super Mario Bros. Movie has now surpassed a new milestone and this time in North America alone.
The report comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which claims that The Super Mario Bros. Movie has now surpassed $500 million in North America last weekend. It is only the fourth movie to have reached that mark in the pandemic era. Other movies that have surpassed this mark are Spider-Man: No Way Home ($814.1 million), Top Gun: Maverick ($718.7 million) and Avatar: The Way of Water ($683.9 million).
Since its debut in March 2023, the movie has now surpassed multiple records including becoming the first film of 2023 to clear $1 billion at the global box office. It is also the 10th film to achieve the same milestone.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is also the first Illumination and Universal animation film to have ever surpassed $500 million in North America, the second highest-grossing animated film of all time, and the third-biggest Universal release ever. It is only behind the greats like Jurassic World and ET.
