We are now deep into the -ber months and we are looking at a month full of highly anticipated games. October video game releases 2022 is what this article is about and the games on this list caught our attention in one way or another. Also, it seems like they have been spared from the long list of games delayed well into 2023. We’ll take that as a good sign for now.
But enough of the doom and gloom. As we head into the Halloween season, let’s go over our list of top October video game releases 2022.

Scorn
Release Date: October 21 2022
Genre: First Person Horror
Platform: Xbox Series X, PC
The first game on our list is one that’s been delayed a number of times and it looks like the time has come for it to finally release. The developers of Scorn do not see this game as a first-person shooter. It may have elements of one but the game leans more on the horror aspect as well as its storytelling. Though confirmed, we can’t be sure of anything until the game actually releases. And that is why it is the first game on our list. (There’s more to look forward to for October game releases 2022.)
No More Heroes 3
Release Date: October 11
Genre: Action-adventure, hack-and-slash
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
In truth, No More Heroes 3 has been out for a while on the Nintendo Switch. It may not be a brand new release but it’s the first time the game has been ported to PC and other platforms. Travis Touchdown’s third outing is just as action-packed as it always has been. Good to know that the years of downtime didn’t rust his skills with a “lightsaber”.
Coral Island
Early Access Release Date: October 11
Genre: Farming Sim
Platform: PC
Coral Island is entering Early Access next month. The farming sim all about saving an island from corporate greed has a lot of things going for it. There are environmental minigames to play with and many islanders to befriend. There won’t be time for quiet moments on your personal island paradise.
9 Years of Shadows
Release Date: October 10
Genre: Metroidvania
Platform: PC
A game that recently popped up on our radar, 9 Years of Shadows tells the story of Europa as she rids Talos Castle of a curse. The game features gorgeous pixel art and equally breathtaking 2D animations. A Metroidvania at its core, Europa gets access to an array of battle dresses that give her an edge in battle and the ability to traverse the twists and turns of the castle.
Dakar Desert Rally
Release Date: October 04
Genre: Rally racer
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
What caught our attention with Dakar Desert Rally is its attention to detail and the open world style that allows you to travel open desert locales while appreciating the small details put into the cars and the environment. We gotta have at least one or two racing games on our October game releases 2022 list, it might as well be the one with the best graphics.
Star Ocean The Divine Force
Release Date: October 27
Genre: JRPG
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
It’s been a long while since we’ve had a Star Ocean game. Unfortunately, the recent games in the series haven’t been as well received as the classic games. But that doesn’t mean that Star Ocean The Divine Force won’t be any good. We’ll be keeping an eye out for this one. Here’s to hoping that this game can pull off something close to Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.
Bayonetta 3
Release Date: October 28
Genre: Hack-and-Slash
Platform: Nintendo Switch
She is back! We’ve waited quite a bit for Bayonetta’s adventure on the Switch. The wait for Bayonetta 3 has been worth it though. Our favorite witch is rocking a new look and a brand new faction of enemies to face. Bayonetta won’t be facing them alone, however, a returning cast and a fresh-faced witch will be helping her out this time around.
Asterigos Curse of the Stars
Release Date: October 11
Genre: Action-Adventure, RPG
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Let’s get the comparisons out first. Yeah, Asterigos Curse of the Stars looks a lot like Immortal Fenyx Rising but with more emphasis on combat. The city of Aphes is a mystery waiting to be solved. Choose its fate with the choices you made along the way. Regardless, the intense combat is reason enough to give this game a look.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Release Date: October 20
Genre: Tactical, Turn-based RPG
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope continues the zany adventures of the Mario cast and the chaotic Rabbids in a whole new universe of possibilities from the merger of the Mario and Rabbid universes. This time around the team is tasked to save Sparks from the forces of the evil Cursa. We don’t know how the weapons make the cut but it works so let’s just go with it.
A Plague Tale Requiem
Release Date: October 18
Genre: Action-Adventure, Stealth
Platform: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC
A mere 6 months after the first game, Amicia and Hugo believe they have outlasted the plague. But life down South isn’t as peaceful as they were led to believe. Hugo is experiencing new nightmares and that’s gotten Amicia worried. You know what that means? Trouble isn’t too far away.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Release Date: October 28
Genre: First person shooter
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
The follow-up to Modern Warfare 2019 is almost here. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 might not be a 1-for-1 recreation of the original game but a new perspective is certainly refreshing.
It’s also worth noting that Warzone 2 is also set to release a couple of weeks after Modern Warfare 2. Players can look forward to a Warzone experience with updated graphics from Modern Warfare 2.
Gotham Knights
Release Date: October 21, 2022
Genre: Action RPG
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC
And here we are, our top pick for October video game releases 2022. Let’s get one thing clear, Gotham Knights is not a sequel to Arkham Knights. This is a brand new story and it just so happens that Batman is no more and the sidekicks need to step up. Apart from the story, we are looking forward to the 4 player co-op combat that looks like it flows much like the Arkham games.
It might just be us wanting more Batman but whatever it is, we are looking forward to this game the most for October.
