It has been revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has now become the UK’s third-best-selling boxed Zelda game and this was just achieved in just a short time.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Surpasses Predecessors
It was revealed by GamesIndustry.biz that the physical sales of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s physical sales have now far surpassed its old predecessor, Ocarina of Time on N64. Only Zelda: Breath of the Wild from 2017 on Nintendo Switch and 2006’s GameCube and Wii release Zelda: Twilight Princess have sold more copies in the UK.
Other Titles Fare
For last week, the UK Boxed Chart’s top 1 was Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and behind it is the new entry Street Fighter 6. It reportedly did not have a strong physical launch so it did not overtake the popular Zelda title.
Street Fighter 6’s majority of its sales are actually coming from digital copies so actual sales might differ from the boxed ones. Still, it did not top its CAPCOM siblings like Resident Evil in terms of boxed sales. 79 percent of SF6’s boxed sales were on PS5, 13 percent on Xbox and 8 percent on PS4. It is expected that Xbox’s share on the digital front would be a bit better.
FIFA 23 has now fallen to number 3 after a sales dip, Hogwarts Legacy is now at number 4 despite its sales increase, and Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has dropped to number 5, but sales are now up to 10 percent.
