Animal Crossing: New Horizons Needs Online Connectivity For Events

Yep, you read that title right: upcoming video game Animal Crossing: New Horizons will need online connectivity for players to enjoy events. It actually has a purpose though.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons online connectivity has a reason

In previous titles, some players would just change the system clock in order to “time travel,” of sorts. Game company Nintendo is not having it. The post-development support team is on the case and is cracking down on stopping people from ruining the experience for those who would not cheat.

With the need of internet connectivity, changing the game clock will not work anymore. The servers will force the game to follow its clock instead with a check. It will ensure that the console time and date is the same as the ones that are in the events in real life. So, too bad legal cheaters. Time to be very patient with your playthrough.

If that is not enough, Nintendo is also asking players to have their Switch accounts linked to a Nintendo account. That is a double check from Nintendo so that it will be fair for everyone.

Aside from that news, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can get perks. They can travel to other islands, take advantage of the mobile app, and make save backups. The mobile app will also give players access to scan QR codes and use a keyboard for online chat system. Some great perks, right?

The game will be launching soon both physically and digitally. Other countries have already gotten their copies, but they only played it offline.

    Thanks DualShockers. Source: Nintendo Japan
