The gaming industry June-pocalypse is here so get excited and get your wallets ready. Currently, we’re at the tail end of the spring launch season and E3 is right around the corner with plenty of exciting announcements to come. But, before we finally reach the return of E3, there are still some major game releases coming out this month and it feels like there’s something for everyone coming down the pipeline. Here are five games releasing this month that should be on your radar.
5 | Chivalry 2
Torn Banner Studios is back with a sequel to their successful and beloved Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Doubling down on everything that made Chivalry 1 so great, Chivalry 2 will feature 64 player online battles, deeper character customization, next-gen graphics, mounted combat, and a reworked and more fluid combat system. You can also pick up limbs from the battlefield and use those as weapons if you decide to be a crafty knight. For the fans of Mordhau, along with the almost ten-year veterans of Chivalry, Chivalry 2 is sure to be an exciting addition to the hack and slash genre.

4 | Guilty Gear -Strive-
After creating the perfect love letter to Dragon Ball fans with 2018’s Dragon Ball FighterZ, Arc System Works is returning to their flagship anime fighting franchise with Guilty Gear -STRIVE-. Known for its flashy anime art style and easy-to-learn yet hard-to-master fighting mechanics Strive has been described as “a complete reconstruction of the franchise”, promising to revamp many features of the long-standing fighting game series. Arc System Works is committed to delivering the best and most polished fighting game experience, having previously delayed the game based on beta feedback directly from the fans. Featuring fifteen characters at launch and a highly praised rollback netcode, Guilty Gear -STRIVE- is sure to be one of the biggest fighting games of the year.

3 | Scarlet Nexus
Self-described as a “brain punk” game, Bandai Namco’s upcoming action RPG is the anime game fix you might be looking for if Guilty Gear isn’t up your alley. The only way to really describe this game is to say it is an anime Devil May Cry with psionic powers. Scarlet Nexus will feature two protagonists, Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall, with a story written by the fantastic writers behind Tales of Vesperia. Demos for Scarlet Nexus are out right now and praise over the game’s combat and art style are already flooding in.
Scarlet Nexus is available on June 25th, 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
2 | Final Fantasy VII Intergrade
The Final Fantasy VII Remake train does not stop. Coming exclusively to PS5, Intergrade boasts 4K and performance mode options, better textures, better lighting, a photo mode and also takes advantage of the PS5’s faster loading and haptic feedback controller. Not to mention the Yuffie DLC that is exclusive to Final Fantasy VII Intergrade just in case you need more FFVII to hold you over until we get the announcement of part 2. Owners of the current FFVII Remake can upgrade to Intergrade at no cost but unfortunately, owners of the PS Plus version must buy Intergrade at a full $70 with no option to upgrade for free. Final Fantasy VII Remake was one of the best games of 2020 and Intergrade is sure to be more of a good thing,

1 | Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
The sequel to 2016’s Ratchet & Clank is almost here and it looks great. Insomniac Games is hell-bent on making the Playstation 5 launch window one of the most special that any console has ever had. If the impressive Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spider-Man Remastered combo wasn’t enough for you then get ready for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Taking full advantage of the PS5’s solid-state drive and ray-tracing capabilities, Ratchet & Clank is poised to be one of the first true next-gen feeling games. Pre-release footage has wowed everyone with many stating that it looks like a playable Pixar movie and Insomniac sure is close to it, if not already there. Rift Apart will feature Rivet, a new protagonist to the series, also expansive and detailed playable areas along with pocket dimensions that players can jump through. All dimensions that players can explore are not pre-generated arenas but actual entire levels. Rift Apart might be one of the biggest system sellers of this generation and if you’re a PS5 owner this is likely a game you won’t want to miss.
