How to Gild Iron Banner Title in Destiny 2 Season 21

It’s been a weird start to Season of the Deep. We’ve had a new dungeon added to the game in the first weekend, alongside the first Trials of Osiris of the season. And immediately after that, we have the first Iron Banner of the season right off the bat. This is the direct result of Bungie not raising the pinnacle cap this season. We should start getting used to this as the new normal going forward.

Lord Saladin’s Iron Banner in Season 21 brings new emblems, shaders, and most importantly, new weapons. We are introduced to the new Strand fusion rifle, the Pressurized Precision, and a returning weapon, the Swarm of the Raven heavy grenade launcher.

Of course, when all is said and done, most Guardians will be curious about getting the Iron Lord title for the first time in their Destiny 2 careers. This guide will help you out in that regard.

How to get Iron Lord Title in Destiny 2

You’ll need to complete all Iron Banner triumphs in order to get the Iron Lord Title. The list of triumphs you need to do are as follows:

    • Jolder’s Victory: Win matches in the Iron Banner playlist across all events and seasons.
    • Gunnora’s Seal: Acquire 15 pieces of Iron Banner armor. Each armor piece must be unique to count towards the total.
    • Orimund’s Taste: Acquire 15 Iron Banner weapons. Each weapon must be unique to count towards the total.
    • Orewing’s Spirit: Earn points by completing objectives in Iron Banner playlist modes. (As many as it takes.)
    • Frotmire’s Will: Complete 12 Iron Banner challenges.
    • Crimil’s Dedication: Reset Iron Banner Rank Once.
    • Jorum’s Howl: Complete Iron Banner matches while wearing at least one piece of Iron
    • Banner armor. Earn additional progress for each piece of Iron Banner armor equipped.

If you keep up a decently fast pace, you can get the majority of the triumphs done in 3-4 days. If this is the first time you’re doing this, you’ll need to be collecting the current armor pieces to increase your Rank gains. With the goal of getting the Emblem at the end of the Rewards track to give you that noticeable boost.

The only thing that’s probably going to hold you back from getting the Title are the Triumphs that require you to collect unique weapons and armor from past Iron Banners. This shouldn’t be much of an issue for veteran players who have participated in Iron Banner before. But for newer players, they’ll have to hand out the following to Lord Saladin to get an instance of the gear:

    Legendary Iron Pieces cost:

    • 3 Iron Engram
    • 50 Legendary Shards
    • 10,000 Glimmer

    Legendary weapons cost:

    • 5 Iron Engrams
    • 50 Legendary Shards
    • 25,000 Glimmer

The cost will significantly go down once you have an instance of that piece of gear. But there’s no denying that’s one hefting initial investment considering it takes us multiple matches to even get 5 Iron Engrams.

Iron Banner Reset Reward Season 21

By resetting your Iron Banner rank once, you’ll be one step closer to earning the Battle-Tempered Shader when you reach Rank 16. Don’t worry if you can’t get it during this Iron Banner week. There are two more Iron Banner weeks planned for Season 21.

How to Gild Iron Banner Title

After acquiring the title, you will be given 5 more Triumphs to complete. Doing these will Gild your Iron Banner Title for the season. Do note that Gilded titles reset each Season.

    • Glorious Howl: Win a certain number of Iron Banner matches. Earn additional progress for each piece of Iron Banner gear equipped.
    • Again, With Feeling!: Reset Iron Banner rank again in the same season.
    • On Point: Earn 200 points by completing objectives in Iron Banner playlist modes while using an Arc, Void, or Strand subclass. You have to be one of these subclasses at the end of the match for it to count.
    • One and Done: Complete all Iron Banner Challenges in a single Iron Banner celebration. This one’s a little tricky. There are 4 challenges on the week that Iron Banner is active. If you complete any of the days before acquiring the Title, you’ll have to wait for the next Iron Banner week to attempt this Triumph.
    • Down, Dear Friend: Defeat 200 Guardians in Iron Banner. Earn bonus progress for using Iron Banner weapons from the current Season. (Season 21 has two new Iron Banner weapons: Pressurized Precision and Swarm of the Raven.

The additional Triumphs are no big deal. Unless you’re for One and Done. As previously stated, you can accidentally lock yourself out of the Triumph by doing the weekly challenges. The only way to prevent this is to not have the subclass at the end of the match. This will prevent you from completing the event challenges until you have the Triumph tracker active.

Aside from that, getting Iron Banner wins is going to be a relatively tough one. But that goes for any activity in the Crucible. One team is going to win and one team is going to lose. (Unless it’s a tie and everybody loses.) It might be worth getting a group of friends together to help with comms but you might be subject to stricter matchmaking.

And that’s everything you need to know about Gilding the Title – Iron Lord in Destiny 2 for Season of the Deep. The Title is cool and all but don’t lose sleep over it. Iron Banner comes 3 times a season now and each Iron Banner week is a new opportunity to get the Title. Good luck and have fun out there, Guardians.

Destiny 2 Season of the Deep is out now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. The season will run from May 23, 2023, to August 22, 2023.
