Diablo IV Servers Promised to Survive Launch Day Sudden Surge

Blizzard developer promises fans and players alike that the Diablo IV servers will survive launch day which is usually known for its sudden surge of players.

Diablo Franchise’s Notorious Day One Disasters

Recent Diablo entries that have online features are notoriously known for their day-one server surges. Way back in 2012, Diablo 3 had a disastrous launch thanks to its always-online requirements, broken servers, and the infamous real-money auction house. Decades later, this happened again with its mobile game Diablo Immortal. Day one was a disaster yet again due to several server crashes which prevented players from playing on the first day. When the servers came back, queuing was so long that others just decided to give up and try on another day.

Even the remastered version of Diablo II: Resurrected did not escape the curse of disastrous launch day. While it was not that bad compared to the others, it still had issues. These problems were quickly mended though.

    Fans Worried

This has now worried a lot of fans since Diablo IV’s launch day is fast approaching. They are very worried that day one will end up in a disaster again due to the bad record the franchise had for the previous recent entries. This was the reason for Diablo IV’s Server Slam a few weeks ago, which went surprisingly well, but it is expected that more players will be coming out to play the full version of the game on day one. Blizzard assures that its team has now got the situation sorted.

Blizzard Confident of Smooth Diablo IV Launch

According to Diablo IV General Manager Rod Fergusson in an interview with GamesRadar+, he is confident that the preparations for the day one surge is already adequate. “We’ve done the work we could do to make launch day as smooth as possible. And we feel good about where we are.”

    Long Queues on the Horizon

Fergusson did note that the process of getting into Diablo IV on day one will be in batches. If a million people will show up at once, not everyone will get in at once. This means players will have to expect long queue lines on the day the game launches since it is predicted millions of players will be trying to get into online servers. After what happened during Diablo 3’s launch and the infamous Error 37 incident, Blizzard has learned its lesson. But that wait is going to be so long.

    Better Wait a Day

Our advice? For players who get lucky getting in then they do not need this but for those who got late, better to wait for the next day or a week to get in smoothly. You will be facing long queue lines and it will take hours to get in.

    You were warned

Diablo IV launches on June 6, 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
