HoYoVerse has officially announced the Genshin Impact Fontaine Nation coming to update version 4.0.

Genshin Impact Fontaine Nation Release Date

Genshin Impact version 4.0 is “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason”, which will be launching on August 16, 2023. This will mark the entry of Fontaine, the fifth nation of Teyvat. According to the big announcement, this is a nation of justice and also a hub of culture, art, and technology. It welcomes new features: adventures, gameplay modes, stories, and its first three playable characters. It also gives players the chance to start on an underwater adventure, a first in the game.

    Where is Fontaine?

Fontaine is located northeast of the Sumeru Desert and is ruled by the Focalors, the Hydro Archon and the God of Justice. Trials have become important public events at the Opera Epiclese under her influence where magic, farce, tragedy, and various sorts of performances also take place. This will be the latest chapter of the Archon Quest and will take place here where players will witness the masterful magic show by Lyney and Lynette as well as an ongoing trial.

    How to Navigate Through Fontaine?

Fontaine is surrounded by water and offers a unique underwater adventure in some of its areas. Players will not run out of oxygen underwater due to a special blessing granted to them but will consume the Aquatic Stamina when they sprint. Restore Stamina by collecting Recovery Orbs or swim through “Turbulent Bubbles” to speed up. Combat can be done underwater using different techniques and can even absorb the abilities of special aquatic creatures to defend themselves, destroy traps, and obtain treasures that got tangled by seaweed.

What are the Bosses Found in Fontaine?

There are new bosses to fight in Fontaine like the Icewind Suite and the heavily Armored Crablord “Emperor of Fire and Iron”. The first one is a clockwork meka duo which allows challengers to choose between one of two themes. They will fight in rhythm of Cryo attacks inspired by figure skating and dance moves. The second one lives in an underwater cave with high defense ability and can unleash vicious Pyro attacks through its organs.

Who Will Join the Genshin Impact Roster in Fontaine?

There are three playable characters who will make their debut in 4.0. They are siblings: Lyney, the eldest, is a famous magician in Fontaine. He is a five-star archer and can perform Pyro magic tricks, transform into a Grin-Malkin Cat, and launch fireworks in combat. Lynette is his little sister and best assistant will be joining the game as a four-star Anemo character who wields a sword. She can approach enemies with speed and can be invited to the team for free by players above Adventure Rank 25 in the latest seasonal event.

Freminet is the youngest sibling and a great diver debuting as a four-star Claymore user. He can wield the fully-pressurized Pers to launch Cryo and Physical attacks. Version 4.0 Event Wishes will have Lyney, Lynette, and Yelan’s rerun in the first half while the latter will have Zhongli and Tartaglia’s reruns and Freminet’s debut.

What Other New Features are Implemented in Fontaine?

There will be new functions and features that will be introduced in update 4.0 like Global Illumination, motion sensor support, and faster loading on PlayStation consoles to further improve the graphics, the controls, and enhance the immersive experience. There are also the multi-layered map and the new Party Setup backgrounds and animations.

Genshin Impact Version 4.0 launches on August 16, 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile.
