Ed Boon has recently shared a new hint of an upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 character that will join the roster.

Mortal Kombat 1 New Character Tease

Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat Ed Boon has been teasing a new image on his personal Twitter account recently which hints at an upcoming returning character that will join the roster. He is known for dropping a lot of mysterious hints about NetherRealm’s upcoming projects and content related to their games.

    Is It Reptile?

Many fans suspect that it is the popular green ninja, Reptile, a mainstay Mortal Kombat fighter from previous titles. Twitter user thethiny pointed out after Boon posted a photo of the KFC parking lot. What was so significant about this place? This is where the Boon and his fellow Mortal Kombat co-creators first envisioned Reptile. He was actually introduced as a hidden character in the first Mortal Kombat game and would become a fan-favorite later on, which made him a fully playable character on Mortal Kombat 2 and forward.

    Reptile’s Evolution

Reptile was usually just a green palette swap of Scorpion and Sub Zero in the past, but as later games were released, his designs and backstory evolved further.

Boon has yet to confirm or deny the claims, but it will most likely be the former.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19, 2023 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
