The Icebreaker pursuit is one of the pursuits in Dredge: The Pale Reach. The Traveling Merchant discovers that the previous explorers of the Pale Reach attempted to create an icebreaker to be able to explore deeper into the icy shelves. She presumes that she could also help the Fisherman make one with the right parts. Read ahead as we share the locations of all the Icebreaker parts in Dredge: The Pale Reach.
Icebreaker Pursuit Walkthrough
To start the Icebreaker pursuit, talk to the Traveling Merchant at the Bleak Pontoon, and she will point you over to the Icy Worksite nearby. She then offers her help in making your ship its own icebreaker, but you will have to find some parts for it first.
To find the parts for the icebreaker, you will need to complete The Narwhal Pursuit first as this allows you to reach the middle part of the region where the parts are. This also introduces you to the ice monster mechanic, where you will lure the “narwhal,” or ice monster, to break down the ice walls that block your way.
The first icebreaker part is near the Central Camp at I-4. You will see a gold dredging point near the camp. Dredge the part from this, and then you can either carry the part with you or head back to the worksite to deposit it.
The next part is at the Eastern Terminus at J-6. The passage to this area will be blocked, so you will have to lure the ice monster to the ice wall by catching enough fish to fill the lure basket. The ice monster should come and break the wall, allowing you to reach the area. You’ll find another golden dredging point where you can get the second part.
The last part is at the Western Bearing at F-4. Same as before, you will need to lure the ice monster to clear the passage to the area, then dredge out the part.
Once you have all three parts, head back to the worksite and put the three parts together to create an icebreaker. It will automatically be installed on your ship without taking up any space in your ship’s cargo hold. You can also talk to the Traveling Merchant to remove the icebreaker.
The icebreaker will then allow you to sail through the small ice without slowing down or taking damage from it, opening new areas and shortcuts that you could not get through before.
That’s how to complete the Icebreaker in Dredge: The Pale Reach. For more guides and Pursuit Walkthroughs, feel free to check out our main page for Dredge here.
