Like many Nintendo fans, I also want Persona 3 Reload on the Switch. Unfortunately, Nintendo is usually late to the party when it comes to games like these. With a lot of Persona games available for purchase on the Switch eShop, you might be looking for good news about Persona 3 Reload.
Is Persona 3 Reload on the Switch?
Unfortunately Persona 3 Reload is not coming to the Nintendo Switch this February 2. There is no confirmation from Atlus that P3R is coming to Nintendo’s handheld device.
Though this isn’t the first time Persona 3 would make an appearance for the Switch. The Persona 3 Portable originally made for the PSP was ported over to the Nintendo handheld. Although online reception for the port have been less than stellar. Persona 3 Reload is another revisit to the game that made the Persona franchise one of the most well beloved JRPG’s but with a more modern approach.
According to director Takuya Yamaguichi and producer Ryota Niitsuma, Persona 3 Reload wasn’t initially planned for any release for the Nintendo Switch. Though they are open to the idea, the rest of us will have to cross our fingers until then.
At the time of this writing, Persona 3 Reload is only available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC once it launches. We could potentially see Persona 3 Reload coming to the Switch sometime in the future but it may not be for a while. It may take some time for Atlus to properly port it for the Nintendo handheld. Until then, we’ll have to wait for further announcement.
Can the Nintendo Switch Run Persona 3 Reload?
Based on what we’ve seen, Persona 3 Reload should run on the Nintendo Switch no problem. If the Switch can run the entirety of Witcher 3, there shouldn’t be a reason as to why it can’t play P3R. Sure, you won’t see it as graphically impressive as its console counterparts but it doesn’t seem beyond the Switch’s capabilities to run.
Compared to Persona 5 Royal, Reload is a bit more demanding on the hardware. However the two games don’t seem to be too far apart, at least according to Steam’s system requirements. Playing Persona 5 Royal on the Nintendo Switch OLED was a very smooth experience even without having to dock it. I don’t doubt that the Switch is more than capable of running Persona 3 Reload with a few tweaks.
