Diablo 4 Unveils Vessel of Hatred Cinematic with Star-Studded Collaboration

Blizzard today released a captivating live-action cinematic trailer for the upcoming Diablo IV expansion, Vessel of Hatred. The cinematic, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jon Watts (Spider-Man trilogy, Wolf) and featuring a haunting rendition of “Behind Blue Eyes” by Grammy Award-winning artist Camila Cabello, delves into the treacherous journey of Neyrelle as she confronts the formidable powers of the Soulstone.

The cinematic, a visual masterpiece, showcases Neyrelle’s perilous expedition into the uncharted depths of Nahantu. Watts, known for his dynamic storytelling and visual flair, brings the dark and immersive world of Sanctuary to life with stunning cinematography and intense action sequences.

Adding another layer of depth to the cinematic experience is Cabello’s chilling rendition of “Behind Blue Eyes.” The reimagined classic, infused with the somber tones of the Diablo universe, perfectly captures the emotional turmoil and inner struggles faced by Neyrelle.

“I’ve been playing Diablo since I was a teen and know the world really well, so when they asked me to direct the project, I was all in,” said Watts, highlighting his personal connection to the franchise.

Cabello also expressed her enthusiasm for the project: “I’m so excited to bring ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ to Sanctuary in a fresh, new way. We took the brilliant lyrics of the original song and transformed it with the dark tones of Diablo. Not only is this song a classic and a perfect representation of what Neyrelle is going through in Vessel of Hatred, but it’s also a song that so many can identify with.”

Rod Fergusson, general manager of Diablo, emphasized the significance of this collaboration: “Vessel of Hatred invites you to step into a world full of darkness and intrigue, and we are thrilled to have collaborated with such extraordinary talents to bring that world to life. With Watts’ exceptional direction and Cabello’s evocative vocals, the release of this cinematic is a harbinger of the adventure to come in Diablo IV’s first expansion.”

The Vessel of Hatred expansion launches worldwide on October 8, 2024, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
