Developer Windrose Crew has officially rebranded its upcoming pirate survival adventure game Crosswind into Windrose, alongside the release of a new gameplay trailer showcased during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted.
The new trailer offers a fresh look at Windrose’s blend of high-seas exploration, combat, and survival mechanics, highlighting intense ship battles, swordfights, and cooperative gameplay. The game is currently in development for PC via Steam.
Windrose is a pirate-themed survival adventure that combines open-world exploration with base building, crafting, and Souls-lite combat elements. Players take on the role of a stranded courier betrayed after a job gone wrong, setting off a journey that evolves into a larger conflict involving rival empires, pirate factions, and mysterious forces.
The game features seamless ship-to-land gameplay, allowing players to transition between naval combat and on-foot encounters without interruption. Players can command different types of ships, from nimble cutters to large galleons, engaging in cannon-based warfare or boarding enemy vessels for close-quarters combat.
In addition to its combat systems, Windrose emphasizes survival mechanics. Players will explore diverse environments, gather resources, and build outposts that can grow into fully operational bases. Recruiting crew members plays a key role in improving efficiency, helping with resource collection and strengthening overall progression.
Combat in Windrose focuses on a mix of melee and ranged weapons, with players able to parry, dodge, and chain attacks to overcome enemies. The game also features challenging boss encounters, rewarding players with valuable loot and progression opportunities.
Windrose will support online co-op, allowing players to explore the seas and tackle challenges together as part of a pirate crew.
A release date has not yet been announced, but the game is currently available to wishlist on Steam.
