Publisher Secret Mode and developer Fuse Games have unveiled new details about Star Wars: Galactic Racer during Summer Game Fest 2026, offering a closer look at the game’s story-driven campaign, rival racers, and a brand-new location ahead of its October launch.
The latest trailer focuses on the growing rivalry between reigning Galactic League champion Kestar Bool and newcomer Shade, a mysterious racer recruited to challenge the champion’s dominance. The footage also introduces Derven Acos, a custom-built racing arena that serves as one of the Galactic League’s ultimate proving grounds.
Set in the Star Wars universe, Galactic Racer centers on the Galactic League, an underground racing competition operating throughout the Outer Rim. Founded by racing enthusiast Darius Pax, the league has fallen under the influence of Kestar Bool, whose grip on the championship has become increasingly corrupt. Players step into the role of Shade as they attempt to rise through the ranks and bring an end to Bool’s reign.
One of the game’s defining features is its runs-based campaign structure. Players must navigate a series of races and challenges while making key decisions about which events to enter. Each run offers different rewards, unlocks, and opportunities, while repeated crashes can end a tour entirely, forcing players to start over with only select upgrades carrying forward.
Between races, players can visit planetary paddocks where racers gather, interact with rivals, and upgrade their vehicles. A mechanic named Hibi will provide access to new parts and customization options, allowing players to tailor their machines to different racing styles and challenges.
The trailer also revealed that iconic podracers will play a larger role in the game than previously shown. While the single-player campaign incorporates podracing events into its progression, players can also jump directly into podracer competitions through Arcade Mode and participate in dedicated online multiplayer events.
The newly revealed Derven Acos serves as a culmination of the Galactic League experience. Designed specifically for elite competition, the arena combines environmental hazards and conditions inspired by locations throughout the campaign, creating one of the game’s toughest racing challenges.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will be available in Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions, with pre-orders now open.
