Bill Skarsgård will play the lead role in Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage game PHYSINT, with Kojima Productions also unveiling a new poster featuring the actor alongside Charlee Fraser.
Kojima Productions announced the casting during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast, confirming Skarsgård as the protagonist of PHYSINT as development continues under the game’s new publishing partnership with Xbox.
Skarsgård joins an ensemble cast that currently includes Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe.
“I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for PHYSINT will be Bill Skarsgård,” Hideo Kojima said. “We are both long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together.”
Kojima added that Skarsgård and Fraser underwent costume fittings, scans, and camera tests earlier this year, which gave him “tremendous confidence in the direction of the project.”
PHYSINT Continues Under XBOX
The casting announcement follows the recent confirmation that Xbox will serve as the new publishing partner for PHYSINT.
Kojima Productions and Xbox are already collaborating on OD – KNOCK, with the addition of Physint further expanding the relationship between the two companies.
Physint was previously being developed in partnership with PlayStation before that collaboration ended. Kojima Productions subsequently searched for another publishing partner, ultimately reaching an agreement with Xbox to continue development of the project.
Skarsgård is best known to many audiences for playing Pennywise in 2017’s It and It: Chapter Two. His film credits also include Nosferatu, John Wick: Chapter 4, Barbarian, Atomic Blonde, The Crow, and The Devil All the Time.
The remaining announced Physint cast includes Fraser, Train to Busan and Eternals actor Don Lee, and Japanese actress Minami Hamabe.
Kojima Productions describes Physint as its third original IP, with Kojima previously calling the project the culmination of his 40-year career as a video game creator.
The studio intends to use cutting-edge technology and its cast to create a new action-espionage experience. Further details about Skarsgård’s character, the game’s story, and its release date have yet to be announced.
