A Redditor has recently reported that the upcoming video game The Last of Us Part 2 is not available in the Middle East due to certain contents.
The Last of Us Part 2 contradicts Middle Eastern laws
In the Middle East, media that has 18+ content is not allowed to be released in public due to its laws, which is why it is seemingly not available for pre-order. TLOU2 has a lot of nudity, and LGBT related content so it is not possible for its release. Other game companies have censored a lot of its mature content when released in the region, but unfortunately this game’s mature content is essential so it is pretty much hard to censor.
To confirm this, a redditor contacted PlayStation support for his inquiry about the reason for not availing pre-orders for the upcoming game. The employee replied, “If any game did not exist in any Store region, it meant that the game is banned by the competent authorities of the country and we cannot do anything regarding that.”
So it is confirmed it is banned in that region. Fans of franchise will have to import copies from other regions to enjoy the censored content or wait for the authorities to eventually allow the game for release.
The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on June 19 exclusively on PlayStation 4. It will be featured on the upcoming State of Play soon.
