Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently stated in an exclusive interview that games will have photorealistic visuals in ten years.
Zelnick shared his thoughts recently at the UBS Global TMT Virtual Conference about his optimism about the game industry’s future. He stated that with the growing advances of technology and increasing number of fans, the future of gaming will be more exciting.
The CEO predicted that in ten years the gaming industry will be very different compared to it is today. It can be also be the same thing as how today is very different than what it was ten years ago where mobile business and recurrent consumer spending were not present.
Zelnick predicts that in the future, the creative studios will finally find a way to make games so realistic that it would look like live-action films or TV series. Photorealistic technology will advance that far.
“Some of what we do now looks a lot like live-action, but it’s still animation,” he said. “In 10 years, you’ll have the option if you want to make things that look completely realistic, all done inside a computer, never mind all the other advances technology will enable.”
While these predictions might be unrealistic to many people and critics today, this was the same situation that happened ten years ago where the same critics were doubting predictions of what might happen this year. Chances are, technology will progress farther than what we could have imagined and these predictions that Zelnick just dropped might just happen sooner than he guessed. Who knows.
