Sea of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure 3 awaits players in the newest Sea of Thieves’ adventure. For the third time, Sea of Thieves is diving into the depths of the ocean. It’s been four years since the Shrouded Ghost first appeared in the game, but now players may finally see the fearsome sea monster up close and personal.
The Shrouded Deep is only available for a limited time from April 21 to May 12, 2022. The event’s name is a throwback to Sea of Thieves’ first big live event, 2018’s The Hungering Deep, which introduced the megalodon Sea of Thieves opponent type for the first time in an event that required crews to put down their cannons and work together to take down the Megalodon.
In Sea of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure 3, your task is to summon the Shrouded Ghost and collect the Veil of the Ancients hidden deep within its belly. You must uncover the Veil of the Ancients before Captain Flameheart, the notorious Ashen Skeleton Lord whose intent is to use this powerful relic’s magic to travel between the Sea of the Damned and the Sea of Thieves. The only person who knows the whereabouts of the Veil is Belle.
Belle has teamed up with Merry Merrick, famed for being the first to uncover the Megalodon, to track down the Shrouded Ghost. So Belle needs Merrick’s help to unveil the Shrouded Ghost, slay it, and steal the Veil before Flameheart. But Belle and Merrick are stranded in the middle of the sea and you need to help them.
To start the Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure, speak to Larinna, who knows where Belle was last seen and can help you find her.
How to complete Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure 3
It is necessary to collaborate with at least four other pirates in order to summon and defeat the Shrouded Ghost in order to successfully complete the Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure. Crews must work together to complete the mission objectives and summon the Shrouded Ghost and collect the Veil of the Ancients faster.
You must then speak with Belle in order to complete the Adventure once you have repulsed Flameheart’s forces and defeated the Shrouded Ghost. Remember that there are no checkpoints during this Adventure, so we have prepared a step-by-step walkthrough on how you can come out victorious against the Shrouded Ghost.
Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure Walkthrough
Step 1: Speak to Larinna
Begin by speaking to Larinna at any active Outpost in the Sea of Thieves. She’s just outside the Tavern when you load into the game. Talk to Larinna when you find her, and you’ll see many dialogue options to choose from. Choose the option > Begin Adventure, to start the first chapter.
Do note that you can’t start the Adventure while doing a Tall Tale. If you have an active one, you can cancel the Adventure via your ship’s Voyage Table.
The Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure will start as soon as you notify Larinna that you are ready to find Belle and Merrick. She will give you a parchment that reveals the legendary Megalodon hunter Merrick has returned to his once-sunken ship, the fabled Killer Whale.
Step 2: Sail to Merrick’s ship, The Killer Whale
Sail to The Killer Whale and meet Belle and Merrick when ready. The Killer Whale lies right below Shipwreck Bay in the first three regions. The Killer Whale is located at M12 on your Map Table.
Before leaving the outpost, purchase full crates of wooden planks and cannonballs from the Merchants Alliance representative on the wharf beside your ship. You’ll need plenty of wood and cannonballs for what lies ahead.
Aboard The Killer Whale, Belle and Merrick are on the upper deck, near the capstan. Talk to Merrick and Belle there.
Step 3: Speak with Belle
Speak to Belle and choose the option > Continue Adventure, which will then give you four dialogue options:
I want to seek the soul of the Hungering One
I want to seek the soul of the ShadowMaw
I want to seek the soul of the Ancient Terror
I want to seek the soul of the Crested Queen
This is the beginning of the second chapter. Selecting any of these dialogues will send you Megalodon hunting. To summon the Shrouded Ghost, your crew and any other crews participating in the Adventure must collect all four Megalodon souls.
Belle will give you four quest items: Belle’s Instructions, an Effigy, a Summoning Flare, and a Circle Map.
Step 4: Spawn and Defeat Four Megalodons
In the Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure, you can defeat all four Megalodon varieties. Your task is to capture the souls of the Hungering One, the ShadowMaw, the Ancient Terror, and the Crested Queen in order to fulfill Belle’s ritual.
You’ll receive directions on where to go and a map of the precise cannon to use for each of the four Megalodons. Each of the Megalodons will be represented by an effigy and a unique summoning flare. The color codes for these effigies are:
- Blue-feathered effigy – Hungering One
- Red-feathered effigy – ShadowMaw
- Yellow-feathered effigy – Ancient Terror
- Purple-feathered effigy – Crested Queen
Each Megalodon is found on a different island. Once on the island, go to the place indicated on your Quest Radial’s Circle Map. This region will have a specific cannon to utilize. Find the cannon and equip the Summoning Flare from your Quest Radial. The cannon will automatically fire the flare into the sky, lighting up the Megalodon spawning region.
Sail to the indicated spawning location and get ready to fight the Megalodon. Damage the Megalodon with cannons and guns until it is defeated. After defeating the Megalodon, its soul, which looks like a big green glowing orb, will be left behind. Enchant your Effigy by swimming to the soul, equipping it and raising it. You’ll know the process is completed if the soul vanishes, the Effigy lights up, and it shines the same green.
Return to The Killer Whale and place your Enchanted Effigy on the Ritual Table. The Ritual Table’s souls work like the flames on the Fort of the Damned. You can collect the souls in any sequence. Since the Shrouded Deep is meant to be played in co-op with other crews, to save time, check the Ritual Table to see if another crew has already gathered the Megalodon soul you want. It’s possible that other pirates have already collected some of the souls.
Speak with Belle again to choose the next Megalodon, and repeat until all four are completed. Here are all the Megalodon locations for the Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure:
- Hungering One – Mermaid’s Hideaway (located at B13 on Map Table)
- ShadowMaw – Ruby’s Fall (located at Y16 on Map Table)
- Ancient Terror – Thieves’ Haven (located at M20 on Map Table)
- Crested Queen – Marauder’s Arch (located at Q3 on Map Table)
Step 5: Capture the soul of the Hungering One
If you choose the option > I want to seek the soul of the Hungering One from the the dialogue options with Belle, The Hungering One Megalodon can be found at Mermaid’s Hideaway (located at B13 on Map Table).
Go to the cliffs on the south west side of Mermaid’s Hideaway. There is a cannon facing west. Load your Quest Radial’s Summoning Flare into the cannon and the cannon will automatically fire the flare into the sky, lighting up the Hungering One’s spawn location.
Return to your ship and go to the flare’s location to combat the Hungering One. After defeating it, swim over to its soul and enchant your Effigy. Return to The Killer Whale and place your Enchanted Effigy on the Ritual Table.
Step 6: Capture the soul of the ShadowMaw
If you choose the option > I want to seek the soul of the ShadowMaw from the the dialogue options with Belle, the ShadowMaw Megalodon can be found at Ruby’s Fall (located at Y16 on Map Table).
On Ruby’s Fall, head to the cliffs to the west of the island. There is a cannon facing west. Load your Quest Radial’s Summoning Flare into the cannon. The cannon will automatically fire the flare into the sky, lighting up the ShadowMaw spawn location.
Return to your ship and go to the flare’s location to combat the ShadowMaw. After defeating it, swim over to its soul and enchant your Effigy. Return to The Killer Whale and place your Enchanted Effigy on the Ritual Table.
Step 7: Capture the soul of the Ancient Terror
If you choose the option > I want to seek the soul of the Ancient Terror from the the dialogue options with Belle, the Ancient Terror Megalodon can be found at Thieves’ Haven (located at M20 on Map Table).
Once on Thieves’ Haven, head to the Southside cliffs. There is a cannon facing south. Load your Quest Radial’s Summoning Flare into the cannon. The cannon will automatically fire the flare into the sky, lighting up the Ancient Terror’s spawn location.
Return to your ship and go to the flare’s location to combat the Ancient Terror. After defeating it, swim over to its soul and enchant your Effigy. Return to The Killer Whale and place your Enchanted Effigy on the Ritual Table.
Step 8: Capture the soul of the Crested Queen
If you choose the option > I want to seek the soul of the Crested Queen from the the dialogue options with Belle, the Crested Queen Megalodon can be found at Marauder’s Arch (located at Q3 on Map Table).
On Marauder’s Arch, head to the cliffs on the island’s south west. There is a cannon facing west. Load your Quest Radial’s Summoning Flare into the cannon. The cannon will automatically fire the flare into the sky, illuminating the Crested Queen’s spawn location.
Return to your ship and go to the flare’s location to combat the Crested Queen. After defeating it, swim over to its soul and enchant your Effigy. Return to The Killer Whale and place your Enchanted Effigy on the Ritual Table.
Step 9: Summon the Shrouded Ghost
A green light beam will appear above The Killer Whale once all four Megalodon souls have been put on the Ritual Table. The Shrouded Ghost can be summoned now that the Ritual Table is ready.
You’ll need a group of five or more pirates to play a special shanty at The Killer Whale. Play “Summon The Megalodon” from your shanty playlist while you have a musical instrument equipped by selecting it from your shanty playlist. If you’ll be having trouble gathering a sufficient number of pirates, a bright green light will now shine down from above the summoning table, inviting the assistance of other pirates already present in the instance. For those who are unable to play the summoning shanty due to a lack of pirates, the green beacon will hopefully attract other crew of pirates.
Set up your instrument and gather around the Ritual Table after you have five pirates on board the Killer Whale. Start singing the “Summon the Megalodon” shanties once everyone has gathered around the Ritual Table. Play the shanties until the Ritual Table is fully charged.
To finish the ritual, all five pirates must play the shanty long enough to charge the Ritual Table. Then the Shrouded Ghost summoning can begin.
The Shrouded Ghost will appear in dramatic manner after everyone has played the tune together for a few seconds. There are four stages to this Shrouded Ghost Megalodon boss fight, each of which gets harder as it progresses.
Step 10: Defeat the Shrouded Ghost
There are four phases to the fight with the Shrouded Ghost. For this epic battle, you’ll need plenty of Cannonballs and Wooden Planks on hand.
First Phase
The fist phase will unfold quite like any other Megalodon battle. You will have to fight The Shrouded Ghost head-on. To do damage to the Shrouded Ghost, use Cannons, Tridents of Dark Tides, and your own firearms. Following a certain amount of damage, the Shrouded Ghost will dive back to the depths for recovery, after which the following wave will begin.
Second Phase
In the second phase, the Shrouded Ghost Megalodon will stay hidden as Flameheart’s fleet takes you on in a ship battle. The second wave will see you battling Ghost Ships from Captain Flameheart’s Ghost Fleet, which you will have to defeat. Cannonballs are best here. Flameheart’s Fleet will retreat once you have slain a sufficient number of Ghost Ships, and the new wave will begin.
Third Phase
Captain Flameheart will escalate the battle by summoning an improved Captain Ghost Ship and the Shrouded Ghost will resurface to attack you all at the same time during the third wave of attacks.
Make a concentrated effort to defeat the Captain Ghost Ship and the Shrouded Ghost in order to complete the wave and go to the final phase. Defeating the Captain Ghost Ship requires approximately 10 cannon shots due to its solid black sails.
Fourth / Final phase
In the fourth and final phase, you’ll be up against the Shrouded Ghost as well as Flameheart’s Ghost Fleet for one last fight to the death. This is the most difficult wave, and you may find yourself completely overwhelmed. This is the reason why it is best to fight alongside other players who are playing the Sea Of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure.
The good news is that just when it appears that all hope has been gone, Pendragon will arrive and use his mighty galleon to keep the Ghost Ships at bay while you finish off the Shrouded Ghost. To complete the final wave, you’ll want to concentrate your efforts on damaging the Shrouded Ghost Megalodon to defeat it once and for all.
Step 11: Speak with Belle Again
Once you have successfully defeated the Shrouded Ghost, don’t forget to chat with Belle once more. Select the option > Complete the Adventure from her dialogue options. This action will uncover a plot twist that provides us a hint as to what will happen next in Sea of Thieves on May 2022 when the tale is expected to pick up where it left off.
Disclaimer: Spoilers ahead!
The ‘Complete the Adventure’ option will reveal whether or not you have located the Veil of the Ancients. As the next chapter begins, Pendragon will accompany you on board The Killer Whale, holding the Veil of the Ancient in his hands. But there’s something wrong – The mask isn’t finished yet.
The Veil Stones, which contain the power source of the Veil of the Ancients, have been hidden by the Ancient Priest. Captain Flameheart, on the other hand, may still exploit these missing Veil Stones to further his dark agenda. Despite the fact that we have recovered the mask, this reveals that there is still more work to be done.
Sea of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Deeds and Rewards
After you have completed the Sea of Thieves The Shrouded Deep Adventure the first time, you will almost certainly still have multiple Deeds to perform after. If you go to the Adventure Tab, you can see how many you still have left.
If you miss any of the challenges during The Shrouded Deep adventure, you can restart the story mission to make up for it. For example, if another team plants an effigy on your behalf, you can retry the story mission to complete the deed. The Deeds that you must do are as follows:
- Add a Hungering One Effigy to Belle’s Ritual Table
- Add a Crested Queen Effigy to Belle’s Ritual Table
- Add a ShadowMaw Effigy to Belle’s Ritual Table
- Add an Ancient Terror Effigy to Belle’s Ritual Table
- Take part in the Shrouded Ghost summoning ritual
- Defeat the summoned Shrouded Ghost
You will be rewarded with the Hunter’s Beloved Figurehead if you complete the event once, which is a ship cosmetic that features the likeness of Merrick’s beloved wife, Serick. For successfully completing each of the six Deeds, you will be rewarded the exclusive player title “Summoner of Myths”.
Notes for Sea of Thieves The Shrouded Deep
- In the event of death, keep in mind that your ship, which will have respawned on another island after sinking, will demand that you return to the fray from an unknown place if you choose to continue. Because of this, it’s essential to keep your own ship afloat rather than rely on others to do so for you.
- The guaranteed Shrouded Ghost encounter will not count toward any of the other long-standing Shrouded Ghost accolades, but the “Summoner of Myths” player title will serve as an excellent reward for those who have been waiting nearly half a decade to ever observe the creature for the first time.
To get fans excited for the Shrouded Deep, Rare produced a short cinematic teaser in which Merrick, a returning character from the game’s first expansion, makes some unsettling remarks regarding the world between and a white shrouded ghost shark. We see Belle from past adventures on a newly refurbished ship: the Killer Whale. Merrick can’t help but be distracted by her presence. As a notable underwater landmark, the Killer Whale shipwreck Merrick once sailed is known to long-time Sea of Thieves fans.
The big concern on everyone’s mind about this new event is whether or not they’ll get the title for defeating the Shrouded Ghost. The outcome appears bleak. After fighting the Shrouded Ghost, players can now receive a commendation for their efforts. “Defeat the Shrouded Ghost in a chance encounter 5 times, as a Pirate Legend.” Chance encounters have recently been added to the title, which most likely indicates that the title can only be obtained through extremely rare encounters and not through gameplay.
If you ever find yourself in a fight with the Shrouded Ghost, be prepared for a tough one.. There is a good chance you’ll get some Shrouded Ghost-themed loot and cosmetics if you win! With the chance to see a legendary beast and the opportunity to rescue a priceless treasure with Merrick and Belle, this will undoubtedly be an enjoyable and worthwhile journey for the entire crew.
