American Multinational Semiconductor Company AMD has recently confirmed that the Smart Access Memory feature that they have is not proprietary.
In a recent statement by the company, they confirmed that the Smart Access Memory is not proprietary and is not going to be locked into working with its own Ryzen 5000-series CPUs and Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs. In fact, AMD is welcoming other vendors to make it work since what it can do right now is be compatible with their hardware. Nobody has tried to do so yet. They also confirmed that it is based on the Resizable BAR PCIe.

With AMD Smart Access Memory, we have designed, optimized and validated both hardware and software technologies with all combinations of Ryzen 5000 Series processors, Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards, AMD 500 Series motherboards and the latest drivers and BIOS at launch. We believe this pairing unlocks maximum platform performance.
Smart Access Memory is built on features of the PCIe standard and firmware standards (Resizable BAR), and was developed through extensive validation and platform optimization. We welcome the opportunity to support other hardware vendors in their efforts as part of our ongoing commitment to using common and open standards to improve gaming experiences.
For now, Team Red aka AMD has the advantage of Smart Access Memory, but they welcome Team Green (NVIDIA) and Team Blue (Intel) to make it happen.

It features the coming Hangar 21 Technology Demo video that will feature the breakthrough of AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture in action. It will showcase mind-blowing visuals, realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections enabled by AMD FidelityFX and Microsoft DirectX 12 Ultimate.
