Crossing in Shadow is a quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 where Empress Nadinia requires the Arisen’s help in making it through Vernworth without her identity getting exposed. Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to complete the Crossing in Shadow quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to unlock the Crossing in Shadow quest
To unlock the Crossing in Shadow quest, you will need to complete the A Candle in the Storm quest and make sure that Nadinia has survived the assassination attempt. Afterwards, let some days pass and Vera will visit you one night in your house and this will start the quest.
Escort Nadinia without exposing her identity
Vera will ask for your aid in escorting Empress Nadinia through Vernworth to reach the Rose Chateau Bordelrie without them being exposed. Once you have accepted this quest, make sure that you do it right away and do not sleep through the night yet.
Follow Vera and Nadinia through the streets of Vernworth and you will eventually pass by Philbert’s Sundries. A beastren can then be seen asking to get the medicine from Philbert, but the merchant declines just because the beggar was a beastren. Nadinia wants to help out, but because she cannot expose herself, you offer your help instead.
Approach Philbert and the merchant will tell you that he’s reluctant to sell you the medicine because you are just planning to give it to the beastren. You will then have the option to either bribe him 1,000 G or threaten him. Choose to bribe him 1,000 G and he will give you the medicine, otherwise you’ll get into an argument which will involve the guards. Give the medicine to the beastren and continue on your escort job.
Shortly after, you will encounter a beastren thief who asks for your help in covering up for his crime. Nadinia once again expresses her wish to help, but instead, choose not to help the thief. Later on, a guard will catch the thief and you will get to continue on your way to your destination.
Once you reach the bordelrie, Nadina and Vera will thank your for your help. They will then continue into their meeting and meet up with you again shortly. Nadinia will also tell you that the statue in Vernworth was Rothais, a beastren and the founder of Vermund. The quest will then be completed and you will be rewarded with 4,000 XP, 20,000 G, and a Sunbloom.
In case you stumble upon a bug where Nadinia and Vera just won’t continue heading to the Bordelrie, either restart with a later save and make sure to stay within their pace, or carry one of them all the way to the bordelrie to trigger the final cutscene of the quest.
