Short-Sighted Ambition is a quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 where players help out Isaac who is suffering from a worsening eyesight. Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to complete the Short-Sighted Ambition quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to unlock the Short-Sighted Ambition quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To unlock the Short-Sighted Ambition quest, head over to Isaac’s Wares at Bakbattahl and buy at least one item from the store. Isaac’s wife will then make a comment about his bad eyesight afterwards which will start the quest.

    Seek out a ripened quince

Isaac will ask for your help in searching for a ripened quince. Quince bushes can be found near the riftstone far west from Bakbattahl. They look like bushes with yellow fruits on them. Once you have picked one, simply wait for about three in-game days and the quince in your inventory will turn into a ripened quince. Make sure that you do not have any pawn with the Logistician specialization so that your ripened quince will not be crafted into something else.

Bring the ripened quince over to Isaac and he will tell you to come back after 2 in-game days.

    Find the grimoire’s second volume

Go back to Isaac after a few days and he will ask you to find the second volume of a grimoire that he needs.

However, his wife and daughter will warn you to stop helping him, which foreshadows the next events.

Ibrahim’s location in Checkpoint Rest Town (mapgenie.io)

To find the grimoire, head back to Checkpoint Rest Town and go to Ibrahim’s Scrap Store. Purchase the On the Transference of Souls 2 from the store for 2,000 G. Afterwards, talk to Ibrahim again and request to make a forgery of the grimoire for 2,400 G. After waiting for a few days, go back to Ibrahim to collect the forged grimoire which is called On the Transit of Souls 2.

The next part will have two outcomes depending on which grimoire you will hand over to Isaac.

    • Hand over the forged grimoire (good ending)

If you hand over the forged grimoire (On the Transit of Souls 2) to Isaac, he will ask you to accompany him back to his house. Isaac will then try to use the ritual from the grimoires on to his wife and daughter, but since what he got was a forgery, the ritual won’t work. Regardless, the quest will then be completed and you will be rewarded with 3,000 XP and 16,000 G.

    • Hand over the real grimoire (bad ending)

If you hand over the real grimoire (On the Transference of Souls 2) to Isaac, he will use the ritual on the grimoires on his family and accidentally kills them by turning them into sand. This will then put Isaac into despair, making him abandon his shop. The quest will then be completed and you will then be rewarded with 3,000 XP. You can inspect the spot where his wife died to get the Ring of Disfavor.

You can still turn this bad ending around through the Off the Pilfered Path quest. If you managed to help Hugo kill Lanzo and the other Coral Snakes, you will have the option to offer him a job to take over Isaac’s Wares, plus you get a good discount from the shop as a way for Hugo to say thanks for helping him.
