Electronic Arts (EA) is proud to boast that its recently launched football game, EA Sports FC 24, garnered about 11.3 million players in the first week compared to FIFA 23’s 10.3 million last year.
FIFA and EA ended their nearly 30-year partnership earlier this year in May, with the video game publisher stating that “everything you love about our games will be part of EA Sports FC – the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs, and athletes will be there.”
According to Cam Weber, EA Sports’ president, they’re excited to see that many fans are “jumping into The World’s Game in both EA Sports FC 24 and FC Mobile in just the first few days since launch,” in a statement reported by VGC. EA is confident they can “thrive” without FIFA and that the license was holding the publisher back from doing what is best for the franchise.
It’s interesting to see how FIFA will compete against EA’s FC franchise. It looks like FIFA 24 is still non-existent, and we haven’t heard anything from FIFA yet about its next “official FIFA game.”
Erickson stated in his EA Sports FC 24 review that the game “started on a high note” and recommends it to new players looking for a “good starting point” into football games.
EA Sports FC 24 is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
