Time Magazine has named FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki one of the 100 most influential people of 2023.
FromSoftware President Miyazaki has been involved in many popular games including the Dark Souls series, Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, and the latest big hit, Elden Ring. Now, Time magazine has named him one of the most influential people of this year.
Miyazaki is now the second video game developer to have ever been featured in Time’s 100 lists. He follows Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto who was named in 2007.
This particular list includes all the influential people from all walks of life that come from politics, sports, the gaming industry, the arts, and more. This year includes US President Joe Biden, Twitter’s controversial president Elon Musk, and more.
Miyazaki’s entry had a short message, which Naughty Dog Co-President Neil Druckmann penned. “The first time I played one of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games, I was miserable,” he wrote. “I kept dying on the first enemy over and over again. But when I slowed down my approach, paying attention to the details, it all of a sudden clicked. I managed to defeat the enemy and advance further into the game. I earned my progress and felt a sort of rush! And as I moved forward in the game, I was much more deliberate, careful in how I explored this world. And in return the world rewarded me with tension, beauty, and surprises.”
Elden Ring is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
