In the Shadow of Time relationship quest Walkthrough

After completing the required quests, you can check your quests tab to see if the quest has been updated in it, otherwise spend some more time completing other tasks until it appears in the list.

Meet Sebastian at the Catacomb

Head over to the Feldcroft Catacomb to find Sebastian. Talk to him to start the quest.

Enter the Catacomb

Go inside the entrance to the catacomb.

Find the relic

Make your way inside the catacombs. There are lots of spiders inside the catacombs that may make exploring it a bit challenging, so best to prepare your spells as well as your potions. There are side paths that you can explore which allows you to find items and gear. For this guide, we will be going through the main route towards the next objective.

Inside the catacombs, simply follow the open corridors that connect the rooms. You’ll eventually arrive in a huge room with a barricade lit by torches.

Speak with Sebastian about the note

Head towards the table in the middle of the room where you’ll find a note on the ground nearby. Pick it up and talk to Sebastian about it.

Find a way through the barricade

To unlock this barricade, you need to gather skeletons and bring them over to it to create its arch. There’s a pile of bones on the table in the middle of the room, while you can find more bones inside niches which you can reveal by using Revelio and carry by using Wingardium Leviosa.

Once the path is clear, go to the next room to trigger a cutscene.

Find the relic (Learn the Imperio Spell)

During the cutscene, you’ll be given the option to learn another Unforgivable Curse which is the Imperius Curse or Imperio. If you choose to learn it, you’ll go through the spell learning mechanic.

Afterwards, more spiders will show up. You can use Imperio to make them fight each other or make the marked target take more damage. After clearing all the enemies, open the door to the south with Accio to find another barricade.

Find a way through the barricade

For this next room, use Revelio to reveal which doors have the skeleton piles behind them. Then, take note of the glyphs etched on these doors and pull the knobs on top of the walls that have the corresponding glyphs. Gather the skeleton piles to open the next barricade.

Find the relic

Make your way to the next marked room.

Defeat the spiders

Defeat all the spiders in the next room. Use Imperio on the monarchs as they can deal lots of damage to the other spiders.

Find the relic

Go to the next room and interact with the scrolls on the table to find an illustration of the relic. You’ll also find the relic on the same table.

Speak with Sebastian about the relic

Go talk to Sebastian upon finding the relic. You’ll be given a choice if Sebastian should take the relic. Regardless of the choice you make, Sebastian will still take the relic.

Wait for Sebastian and Ominis to finish talking

Ominis will show up to try and stop Sebastian from taking the relic. Wait for their conversation to be over.

Persuade Ominis

Talk to Ominis and you’ll be given two choices on how to respond. Regardless on the choice, Sebastian will still be able to take the relic out of the catacomb. Choosing the option to take Sebastian’s side will have you cast Imperio on Ominis.

Leave the catacombs

Make your way back to the entrance of the catacombs.

Return to Feldcroft

Travel back to Feldcroft with Sebastian.

Defend Feldcroft from Ranrok’s Loyalists

As you approach Feldcroft, you’ll learn that it’s being attacked by Ranrok’s army. Defeat all of them and then go through the cutscene.

Talk to Solomon Sallow

Go talk to Solomon to calm him down. After the dialogue, you’ll complete the quest.

How to open the gates and cross the pit in the catacombs

In the main chamber of the catacombs, you’ll find a gate blocking your way to another room. You’ll need to go through another path in order to this room instead. Look for some rubble in the north side of the main chamber and use a force spell on it. Crawl through the crawlspace and you’ll arrive at a pit full of Devil’s Snare.

To cross the pit, you will need to find the pile of bones from the niches along the pit’s walls and then use these bones to create a bridge to the other side. Use Accio and Wingardium Leviosa to carry these bones to one of the bone posts to create a bridge.

Cross the bridge and follow the path ahead and you’ll arrive at the room behind the gate from earlier. Take all the loot from this room, then use Accio on the knob on the wall to open the gates leading back to the main chamber.

Learning Imperio

If you decide not to learn Imperio during this quest, you’ll have another chance of learning it later on. You can still visit Sebastian in the Undercroft and ask him to learn the Unforgivable Spells. This will only be available once you’ve gone through this quest and as long as you don’t choose to turn in Sebastian during the In the Shadow of Fate quest.
