How to Break Tree Stumps in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Within the Dreamlight Valley’s different areas are tree stumps that take up building space, or just straight out block paths. The toolbelt does not have any axes that can be used to chop down the remaining stumps, nor is there a forester that can be asked to help clear them out. But an upgrade on one of the present tools will do the trick.

In this guide, we will be talking about how to break tree stumps in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to break Tree Stumps in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Tree stumps can only be cleared out using an upgraded shovel which can be obtained by completing Anna’s first quest after moving into the valley. We have made a separate guide on how to unlock Anna for your village.

Once Anna is in the village, raise your friendship level with her to level 2, after which she will have a quest available for you to take. The quest is the “An Icy Invitation” quest which require you to help in preparing the arrival of Elsa to the village; this includes clearing out the tree stumps.

Step 1: Search for the Mystical Flora & Fauna Book

After talking to Anna about the quest, she will show you the tree stumps that are blocking the bridge to the Icy Cavern. She will then tell you to look for a book that can give answers on how to remove the stumps. Head to the Icy House in the Forest of Valor and you will find the book on top of the table near the bookshelves. Talk back to Anna and she will give you the materials to craft the Shovel Blade as per the book.

Step 2: Collect the Shovel Blade materials

You’ll need to gather these materials in order to craft the Shovel Blade:

  • x10 Softwood – can be picked up in the Plaza or in the Peaceful Meadow
  • x4 Hardwood – can be picked up from the Forest of Valor
  • x4 Iron Ingot – obtained by crafting x5 Iron Ore and x1 Coal Ore
  • x3 Tinkering Parts – obtained by crafting x2 Iron Ingot for 3 pieces of Tinkering Parts

Step 3: Craft and use the Shovel Blade

Go to a crafting station and head to the Potion & Enchantment category to find the Shovel Blade blueprint. Craft the item and then use the item from your inventory to apply the upgrade on your shovel.

Step 4: Use the shovel to break the tree stumps

Finally, you can then use your shovel to clear out both small and big tree stumps within the valley. Breaking these tree stumps will drop lots of softwood or hardwood, and each usage will cost the same amount of energy regardless of the size of the stump.

You can then proceed with the remaining steps of the An Icy Invitation quest, which includes taking a picture of the Icy Cavern and sending an invitation letter to Elsa in the Frozen Realm.
