Meloetta is one of the mythical Pokémon that can be found and caught in The Indigo Disk DLC of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is also considered to be one of the rarest mythical Pokémon in existence as it only usually was given through mystery gifts during special events. Just like its mythical status, the way a Meloetta can be seen in the wild can also be considered a ritual only heard from myths.
Read ahead as we share the steps on how to catch a Meloetta in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk DLC.
Meloetta Location
First, progress through the DLC’s story until you reach the Coastal Outdoor Classroom. Then, you will need to make your way east of your location, down into the meadows, as marked on the map. Look for a gentle whirlwind of leaves in the middle of the trees and stand in the middle of it.
How to summon Meloetta
Although it’s not required to summon Meloetta, it’s recommended to set your background music up high in your game’s settings so that you can hear the music that will play once Meloetta appears.
There are also students within the academy who you can talk to and they will tell you rumors that serve as clues to the steps for summoning Meloetta, but it’s not necessary to talk to all of them.
Step 1: Perform a pirouette
First step, you will need to make your character spin clockwise (from left to right) as if you’re performing a pirouette; your character must spin with their single foot and this can be done by spinning the directional analog stick in a tight circle. Keep spinning for around 15-20 seconds.
Step 2: Open your camera in in sepia mode
Next, open your camera by pressing the down D-pad button, then scroll through the filters and choose the Sepia filter.
At this point, you should start to hear Meloetta singing. With your camera still up, pan to the side and you will see Meloetta singing behind you.
Once Meloetta has been summoned, it will remain in its place even if you move or fly to another location. However, you will lose your chance to catch it if you make it faint during your battle, so it’s best to bring a Pokémon that False Swipe and can inflict paralysis. As a mythical Pokémon, it is resistant to being captured and may require dozens of attempts depending on the type of ball you use.
This particular Meloetta is shiny locked, but since it has been captured in the wild, it will be recorded with your own OT ID.
