Traveling around New York in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has never felt so good, and that’s all thanks to the addition of the Web Wings. This handy gadget is a godsend for anyone tired of the rhythmic presses of the [R2] button. Which is almost everybody given enough time in the game.
For those who enjoy long flights, there is a trophy in the game that might be of interest to you. In this guide, I’ll tell you how you can easily glide from the Financial District to Astoria without touching the ground to unlock the Soar Bronze trophy.
How to get the Soar Trophy
The distance you need to cover in order to get from the Financial District to Astoria is daunting. We’re looking at anywhere between 3500 to even 4000 at its longest. There is no way you can glide all the way to the target location on momentum alone. This is why the trophy information says that Wind Tunnels are acceptable. Otherwise, the task will be exceptionally harder.
Choosing a location to start your glide will determine the difficulty of the rest of the flight. For a nice takeoff, I suggest looking for the highest building that’s not too far away from the edge of the Financial District yet high enough that you don’t feel like you’ll immediately hit the ground two seconds later. The picture above shows the location I chose for this attempt. Feel free to look for it during your own attempt.
You’ll want a strong launch before making your way up north. I went for a web launch and zoomed to the next part of the plan. Next, you’ll want to look for this wind tunnel (as pictured above), and you’ll want to ride it all the way to the riverside.
Follow the shoreline north until you come across the nearest wind tunnel heading to the east side of the river. Depending on how much momentum you have left, this could be the first real danger to your attempt. The thing that could mess you up right now is moving to the sides too much.
When you reach the halfway point in the river, you’ll see another wind tunnel that’s heading up north. Steadily go up and over the wind tunnel going east so that you can gently fall down into the wind tunnel heading north. It is a good idea to scan multiple times at this part so as to not lose your timing when going between the tunnels.
This is the final wind tunnel you’re going to use for this attempt. It will take you along Downtown Queens, and it will end at the bridge close to Astoria. Be careful not to hit your head on one of the beams.
As soon as you leave the wind tunnel, slightly go up a bit to give yourself room to work with. And now you’re 800 or so meters away from Astoria, falling… with style. The last leg of the journey is just you maintaining your momentum until you see the trophy appear on the side of the screen.
And that’s how you can easily glide from the Financial District all the way to Astoria. All in all, this is not the most difficult miscellaneous trophy in Spider-Man 2. I’d argue finding all the Spider-Bots is the more difficult one. For a couple of reasons. I really hope this guide helped you in your quest to get platinum for the game.
