There are only a handful of notable grenade launchers in Destiny 2. We have the Explosive Personality wave frame GL and ever popular Dead Messenger Exotic GL. This season marks the addition of the Prodigal Return Destiny 2 Legendary GL to the ranks of semi-fun, very useful category. An extraordinary feat for a grenade launcher.

This guide will cover some useful information on the Prodigal Return. Namely, its stats, where you can get it, and most importantly, the weapon’s god roll.

The Prodigal Return Legendary grenade launcher is a new weapon that is part of the featured weapons pool for Season of Defiance. Apart from a very powerful perk pool, it is one of a few energy launchers that are craftable.

Prodigal Return Base Stats

The weapon comes with the following stats:

  • Blast Radius: 100
  • Velocity: 73
  • Stability: 23
  • Handling: 63
  • Reload Speed: 62
  • Zoom: 13
  • Rounds Per Minute: 90
  • Magazine: 1

The only thing that holds back the weapon’s potential from true greatness is the fact that it doesn’t roll with Autoloading Holster. Instead, it does come with multiple perks that improve the weapon’s ammo capacity.

Prodigal Return Destiny 2 God Roll

Being an energy grenade launcher, chances are the god rolls for the Prodigal Return will most likely be for PvE content. (Unless you’re that one unicorn mad lad who runs around Crucible with a Fighting Lion in the primary slot and a Prodigal Return in the energy slot.)

For the first column, you’ll want to be looking for Quick Launch. The faster the projectile, the faster you can activate Voltshot. Spike Grenades are the obvious choice you want to run in the second column. The GL can also roll with disorienting grenades, a popular choice for weapons like Ignition Code.

The best perks that work well with Voltshot are Lead From Gold, Thresh, and Threat Detector. Lead From Gold will get you energy ammo when you pick up heavy ammo. Thresh actually comes in handy for once since kills through Voltshot count for the perk. And threat detector is a solid choice for when you want combat to be up close and personal.

Even though Voltshot is the clear favorite in the fourth column. The weapon can also run with Demolitionist, Adrenaline Junkie, and Harmony. These other options fall under your preferred playstyle.

the best thing about this weapon is that you can craft this weapon after getting 5 red borders from completing multiple runs of the seasonal activity.

Where to Get Prodigal Return

The most reliable place to get Prodigal Return is from the treasure chests at the end of the Season 20 activity. You can choose to farm it there or by exchanging Season of Defiance engrams to focus the specific weapon.

That’s everything we’ve got on this Prodigal Return Destiny 2 god roll article. Depending on how long you’ve been playing the seasonal activities, you may already have the blueprint in your collection and just don’t it. We suggest trying out the Voltshot roll and seeing if it works for you.
