In our Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon All Characters guide we’ll go over all the playable characters in the game, what their specialty is, and how to unlock them. That’s right, Shovel Knight is back and he’s brought some of his other Knight friends with him as well.

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon Starting Character

Shovel Knight is the starting character. He’s already unlocked from the get-go, no strings attached. He’s still a formidable adversary by himself.

Shovel Knight has an HP of 5. And his special ability will give him extra damage during chains with fatal blows. Plus, he gets to find more potions than any other Knights.

You need to destroy about 20 enemies with Shovel Knight’s extra chain damage in a single run to get the Fatal Chainer character feat.

How to Unlock Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon Characters

You’ll encounter different knights in a boss fight at the end of each level. However, there isn’t any guarantee which one of them you’ll encounter as each boss fight is randomized. You might find yourself encountering the same boss every after level.

If you want to ensure you don’t encounter repetition, there are several steps we can recommend. This will ensure you speed up the process of getting the knight you want.

    • Teleport straight to the level by using the shortcut cannon. The knight boss fight you’ll encounter will usually be standing near the level entrance. If you don’t see the one you want or have already unlocked, quit the level and try again.
    • You’re still able to unlock characters even with character feats, such as extra health and damage, disabled through the settings.
