Annapurna has announced that a Stray Animated Movie is now in development.
2022’s most beloved game Stray which was developed by BlueTwelve Studio is getting an animated treatment by Annapurna’s recently launched animation division. This will be led by the former Disney Animation Executives Robert Baird and Andrew Millstein.
“This is a game that’s all about what makes us human, and there are no humans in it,” says Baird in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s a buddy comedy about a cat and a robot, and there’s such a hilarious dynamic. So, there’s comedy inherent in this, but there’s not one human being in this movie.”
“I think it’s one of the reasons why the game was incredibly popular, that you are seeing the world through the point of view of an adorable cat,” he continued. “How did they pull that off, and how are we going to pull that off in the movie? We will, even though sometimes it feels impossible, but we know that’s the essence of the game and the key to telling the story.”
Stray is a third-person game that features a cat going through an adventure in the decaying cybercity and exploring the world. Sirus Gaming gave this game a score of 9 in our review. Our resident reviewer stated, “Overall, Stray has been quite an experience and I can say that it’s one of those games that you’d really want to play if you enjoy a good story and exploration. It’s a game for cat lovers, it’s a game for cyberpunk lovers.”
