Final Fantasy mania is everywhere! Thanks to FFXV’s launch, we are now officially experiencing Final Fantasy madness! There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t see someone on my news feed sharing a screenshot of them playing Final Fantasy XV. Rightfully so, Final Fantasy XV is one of Square Enix’s most successful releases to date, with 5 million copies sold worldwide – for a game that took ten years to make, that certainly is not too bad.
One of the core features of the game is that it lets you play music tracks from previous Final Fantasies while you’re riding the Regalia, which actually made me miss the classic Final Fantasies. While I do enjoy FFXV, I just can’t help but reminisce on the good’ol menu based combat system. This countdown is my tribute, a love letter of sorts, to a glorious age.
This is my Top 5 Classic Final Fantasy Games. Starting with:
5. Final Fantasy 8 – Two words: Triple Triad. At first I hated the mini game with a passion, but once I got the hang of it, I actually loved Triple Triad. FFVIII is a love story, and you’ve got to have a heart of stone to hate love stories. Although I didn’t love everything about this game *cough* Junctions and Drawing *cough*, this game was an absolute treat. From the beautifully rendered cutscenes to the quirky characters, FFVIII will always have a place in my heart. My favorite character in FFVIII would be Laguna Loire. That man is a superstar.
