Update: Confirmed the game is also launching on PC via Steam.
The latest State of Play broadcast has recently revealed a new title, a successor to the Valkyrie series: Valkyrie Elysium.
The upcoming Valkyrie Elysium game will be launching on PS4 and PS5 consoles this year. No pre-order details yet, but it should be soon. It is currently being developed by Square Enix.
The game seems to be a new version, more likely a reboot of the Valkyrie series with a new game engine. According to the official description on the announcement trailer, it is an action RPG that incorporates the Valkyrie series’ classic special attack and combo systems. Expect Valkyrie Profile gameplay but on a different level.
The visuals still look pre-alpha at this time with some shading and shadows that need improvement. The gameplay does look quick, tight, and fluid. The cinematics look amazing as well.
The trailer does seem to introduce the new Valkyrie Lenneth again in his old form where she had no memory of her past. Or it could be possible that this is a new Valkyrie since she has a different element that she uses: lightning. Odin looks different here as well. Lastly, a character teaser of possibly Hrist was at the end of the clip.
Valkyrie Elysium launches later this year for PC via Steam, PS4 and PS5.
