How to get Winterbite in Destiny 2 Lightfall

The Lightfall expansion introduces a powerful new melee weapon called the Winterbite in Destiny 2. This glaive is a Stasis exotic that is particularly tricky to get thanks to the requirements you need to get it. It packs quite a punch which makes getting the Winterbite all the more worth it especially for players who like getting up close and personal.

So how do you get the Winterbite in Destiny 2? And just how good is it of a weapon?

How to get the Winterbite Exotic Glaive?

You need to complete the Strider quest in Destiny 2 Lightfall to get the Winterbite glaive. This is a post story content of the Lightfall expansion so expect a lot of strong enemies in this quest.

Getting the Strider quest to start is no easy feat. First, you have to complete all the Destiny 2 Lightfall story missions on any difficulty. Then you have to complete three other specific quests: Stargazer, Maelstrom, and Bluejay in that order which all take place in Neomuna. You’ll want to be at least at 1770 power to take on Bluejay which is a pretty hard quest. So you may want to grind the Legendary campaign rewards for a quick way to get through the soft cap. Only after finishing these requirements will the Strider quest be available to begin.

The Winterbite is worth all the trouble you have to go through to get it. Its ability to increase your speed while shielding as your block projectiles ensures you’re always moving fast in combat. And the fact that you can freeze enemies with it prevents any foe from escaping your clutches.

It’ll take you at least three days to compete the Strider quest in Destiny 2. You’re asked to use keys for three Terminal Overload Key Chests which are found in different places in Neomuna. The problem is that only one Terminal Overload Key Chest opens per day and they rotate positions daily so you’ll have to wait until they become available.

The rest of the Strider quest is pretty straightforward asking you to finish the Gilded Percept Lost Sector and then defeat some Vex Hydra at Maya’s Retreat. You can check out our guide for beating the Strider quest if you need help. After completing all the objectives of the quest, you’re given the Winterbite in Destiny 2.

What is the Winterbite in Destiny 2?

Winterbite is an exotic power glaive that can fire a ball of energy which freezes targets. It will also block damage with your shield which improves movement speed while shielding.
