New Ryu ga Gotoku Studio Head Yokoyama Masayoshi recently discussed details about the future of the Yakuza and Judgment series in an interview with Famitsu magazine. It entails what will be the contents of the next Yakuza title.
Yokoyama talks about the fate of the Yakuza series and he revealed the next title will be a direct sequel to Yakuza Like a Dragon. While he could not share more details about the sequel, he confirmed that it will be taking place a few years later and at the same time as the game’s release. It will still feature the protagonist of Yakuza Like a Dragon, Kasuga Ichiban.
The new studio head shared that Yakuza Like a Dragon was like a start of a chapter 2 of the franchise and it let them easily shift to a new protagonist and a new game system. It was widely appreciated by everyone, fans and newcomers to the series, and this enabled them to make it easy to go through with the structural reform.
Aside from the next Yakuza title, Yokoyama also talked about the future of Judgment. He revealed that he will continue with the Judgment series since Lost Judgment had a successful launch.
Yakuza Like a Dragon is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Lost Judgmentis now available on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms as well.
