I totally believe in the phrase: “You never get a second chance at a first impression”. That is totally true for the list of femme fatales I’ve managed to narrow down below. Don’t expect to see any damsels in distress here since all of these ladies are all one hundred percent about kicking ass. Armed with their own unique and alluring charm, not to mention that they are masters at what they do. These gals command respect from the world over and never ceases to amaze gamers with their prowess and make the phrase ‘saving the day’ seem like child’s play.
Up at.#5: Bayonetta. Is the ever-so-sexy main character and protagonist of the Bayonetta series. A descendant of the Umbra Witches who specializes in the bullet arts and is the bearer of the Left Eye – one of two – that allows her to oversee the darkness. After a 500-year-old slumber in a coffin submerged at the bottom of a lake, Bayonetta awoke to find out that she’d lost her memories. In order to reclaim them, she needs to find the other eye (right). To do that she will have to battle horde after horde of angelic entities of Paradiso. Assisted an ally named Rodin, a demonic weapon smith and handler of the ‘The Gates of Hell’ bar, who provides her with ruthless arsenals to combat her enemies. She scours the globe in search of what she holds most dear and no one shall stand in her way of it.
Next at #4: Sarah Kerrigan (Star Craft Series). An ex-Terran Ghost turned zerg hybrid queen, Sarah Kerrigan lays waste to whatever she can lay her hands on. Torn between her past life as a human and her unquenchable thirst for revenge to those who’ve wronged her, she might just be one of the most complicated female game characters to date. Her character is so humanely savage to a point that her desire to atone as well as destroy overwhelms all her encounters. This, plus an army of zergs that are at the ready to do her every bidding.
#3: Lara Croft (Tomb Raider Series). Debuting in the year 1996, the Tomb Raider franchise especially its sole protagonist, Lara Croft gained massive popularity. Started with an all-pixelated physique, Lara has evolved to a more feminine but deadly kind of persona. Born to an aristocratic family, Lara generally shows disinterest in upper class society and would rather prefer dusty old caves, forests and mines uncovering the world’s lost treasures to any socialite parties any day.
An archaeological prodigy, Lara’s goal is to find lost relics some of whom hold mystical powers and safeguard them from those who seek the latter for evil deeds. Being familiar with guns and a knack of always knowing what to do, she protects herself and those around her from groups and individuals including religious cults, mad scientists and even gods! That being said, Lara has landed to the #3 spot of our list with ease.
#2. Aloy – is the protagonist and sole playable character throughout the game – Horizon: Zero Dawn. She started as an outcast: shunned by her tribe whose laws are so strict that even a mere conversation with her is a highly punishable crime. When she came of age, she strives her best to find out who she really is and where she came from by first – winning the ‘Proving’ – a traditional Nora hunting ceremony for her to be part of the tribe once more. Her skills with a bow and arrow as well as with other deadly weapons are superb, taking down monsters several times her size. Her relentless thirst for the truth leads her to uncover various things not just about her nor her tribe’s past but their entire species’ as a whole. Her hunting, infiltration and dominating prowess enables her to easily land to the number two spot on the list.
#1. Ellie (The Last of Us) – She can fight, knows her way with guns and she’s just 14-years old! It’s no doubt that Ellie from the hit game – The Last of Us, bags the number one spot of this list. In the beginning, she is being partnered off with Joel, the main protagonist in the game where they’ll travel together in search of the elusive group called ‘the Fireflies’ in the hope to finding a cure to the fungus-based infection that has plagued the entire human race into extinction. Armed with a bow and arrow, a gun and a handy army knife. This little lady can take down grown men twice or even thrice her size. As far as Ellie goes, big characters sometimes does come in small
And there you have it! My top 5 Best Female Game Characters. Of course, there are others who might be smarter, bolder or stronger than them but in the sense of their character and zealousness of what’s important to them, these ladies are among my top picks – any game – any time! 🙂
