Best Legendary Weapons to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall Launches

Destiny 2 has a deep pool of weapons to choose from. There are so many great weapons added in this game over the years that it’s a shame seeing a majority of them being sunset. And with Lightfall coming, our old fears come back to haunt us as some weapons might be removed to make room for more weapons.

In this list, we’ll go through some of the best gun Legendary weapons you can get before Lightfall launches. Ease of access to these weapons is the primary factor for them making the list. We’ve excluded a lot of the power weapons as there aren’t enough unique ones that warrant attention outside of the couple that is on this list.

Dungeon and Raid exclusive weapons will not be making the list. These weapons are mostly the ones players pick up from naturally playing the various activities in Destiny 2 and its expansions. Also, this list will not include craftable seasonal weapons. We have a separate article dedicated to those weapons.

Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

High Albedo Sidearm - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    High Albedo Sidearm

High Albedo is an old meta gun that used to be a common sight in PvP way back when. It was largely forgotten until a couple of recent sidearm buffs brought it back from the dead. If you’re going to farm for the High Albedo, Headseeker is a must-have to make it halfway decent in PvP. (That’s what I’ll be doing until I get the god roll.)

    • Where to get it: Europa activities. Most reliably by doing the weapon quest on Varik’s second page.
Lodbrok-C Auto Rifle - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Lodbrok-C Auto Rifle

A Lodbrok-C with the right perks is one of the deadliest weapons in PvP. Personally, this roll with Cascade Point absolutely melts anyone foolish enough to take it on in its preferred ranges. There are more good rolls with this gun. Just know that the base gun itself is pretty solid.

    • Where to get it: World drop weapon. You can also focus it from the H.E.L.M. through Hakke umbral focusing.
Scathelocke Auto Rifle - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Scathelocke Auto Rifle

Another underrated auto rifle that most players have forgotten. The Scathelocke is not because of its perk pools (they are pretty mid) or the fact that it’s an adaptive frame in the primary slot. The gun sports one of the most pleasant scopes on an AR (in my opinion.) It does perform well in most activities. But it’s going to depend if you like using ARs at all is going to be the biggest factor in your decision.

    • Where to get it: A reward during select weeks of Dares of Eternity. Xur can also sell it on random weekends.
Veles-X Pulse Rifle - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Veles-X Pulse Rifle

It might be too late to get to the Chain of Command or the Cry Munity. But you still have a chance to pick up this impressive ritual pulse rifle. For PvE, we have the Repulser Brace perk. While PvP has Golden Tricorn and Killclip. It took a while for the community to warm up this gun and I’m glad to see it’s getting some love. It is a worthwhile addition to your vault.

    • How to get it: Reset your rank in either Vanguard, Gambit, or the Crucible.
Gridskipper Pulse Rilfe - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Gridskipper Pulse Rilfe

Rapid-fire pulse rifles fill in a niche that allows them to compete in shorter ranges while remaining a threat from scout rifle ranges. Obviously, the Piece of Mind is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to rapid-fire pulses. The Gridskipper, however, does pretty much the same but is a random drop during select weeks of Dares of Eternity. If you already have a fully crafted Piece of Mind, this gun is the next best thing.

    • Where to get it: A reward during select weeks of Dares of Eternity. Xur can also sell it on random weekends.
Out of Bounds Submachine Gun - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Out of Bounds Submachine Gun

The Out of Bounds was created specifically with PvP in mind. With the right perks, you can shred through opposing Guardians and have enough ammo to duel with another shortly after.

Though you can focus craft this weapon next season using Crucible engrams, it is better to get it now so you can focus on getting god rolls for new weapons.

    • Where to get it: Random drop after Crucible matches.
Funnelweb Submachine Gun - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Funnelweb Submachine Gun

A Veist weapon that’s very much deserving of all praise, the Funnelwel SMG is a meta gun for PvE and PvP. Get Subsistence in the third column and you won’t be reloading as often as you might think. Also, with this gun being a void weapon, it is capable of shooting volatile rounds. Need I say more?

    • Where to get it: World drop weapon. You can also focus it from the H.E.L.M. through Veist umbral focusing.
Fractethyst Shotgun - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Fractethyst Shotgun

The Fractethyst comes from a rare family of shotguns that’s been greatly buffed since Bungie introduced the reticle changes. The best reason to pick up this gun is the fact that its reticle covers the entire outline of a Guardian. Shoot it dead center of an approaching Guardian and it’s an instant kill 10 out of 10 times.

There are better Precision Frames out there. But at least you don’t have to farm red borders from Raids to get it.

    • Where to get it: A reward during select weeks of Dares of Eternity. Xur can also sell it on random weekends.
Bonechiller Shotgun - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Bonechiller Shotgun

It’s really hard to come across a void shotgun that’s not the Tractor Cannon lately. In fact, post Origin Trait and weapon sunsets, there aren’t any to pick up at all. That makes the Bonechiller a unicorn among shotguns. The reason you want to pick this up is to have a void shotgun that shoots volatile rounds. You don’t really need it but, you’ll want every bit of help when it comes to the Legendary campaign. And shotguns with volatile rounds make quick work of both yellow bar enemies and mobs at the same time.

    • Where to get it: Europa activities. Most reliably by doing the weapon quest on Varik’s second page.
Fioritura-59 Sidearm - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Fioritura-59 Sidearm

The Fioritura-59 is a recent addition to the game. It’s an unassuming sidearm until you realize that you can have Repulsor Brace in the third column. This practically ensures that you will never be without Overshields as long as there are enemies for you to kill.

Interestingly enough, it does pretty well in PvP too. But maybe you’ll want another roll that’s more PvP-focused though.

    • Where to get it: World drop weapon in Season 19.
Brass Attacks Sidearm - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Brass Attacks Sidearm

The reason why you want this in your vault is that it’s a void Aggressive Burst sidearm. Between this or the Empirical Evidence, I’ll almost always choose Empirical Evidence. Brass Attacks has volatile rounds though. A slight advantage in certain situations.

    • Where to get it: A reward during select weeks of Dares of Eternity. Xur can also sell it on random weekends.
Coriolis Force Fusion Rifle - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Coriolis Force Fusion Rifle

This is purely a PvP recommendation. Coriolis Force, with the right perks, is extremely fun in PvP. You can surprise enemies coming in from corners. And while it doesn’t have the killer reload perks afforded to others in the Origin Trait, it still holds up well in 1v1 situations. If you want something for PvE, you might want to get a Likely Suspect instead. Or even a Snorri FR5 with very high stability.

    • Where to get it: Europa activities. Most reliably by doing the weapon quest on Varik’s second page.
Blowout Rocket Launcher - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Blowout Rocket Launcher

Out of all the rocket launchers you can get right now as a random drop, the Blowout stands alone as mini-powerhouse. As seen above, it can come with both Demolitionist and Golden Tricorn. Both are coveted perks you should look for in a rocket launcher. As stated previously, you can focus craft this weapon next season but why wait until you can get it when you can put in some hours in the Crucible instead?

    • Where to get it: Random drop after Crucible matches.
Typhon GL5 Grenade Launcher - Best Legendary Weapons you need to Get Before Destiny 2 Lightfall

    Typhon GL5 Grenade Launcher

The Typhon GL5 is a common enough sight in most Legendary drops. You can almost say that one instinctively scraps them without a second thought. But hear me out, the Typhon GL5 comes with Chill Clip. You’ll want it to freeze high-health targets to make them vulnerable to follow-up attacks.

The next time you pick a Typhon GL5, do make sure to give Chill Clip a try. Who knows? You might like it on this Grenade Launcher.

    • Where to get it: Random world drops.

And that’s it for this list of Legendary weapons you’ll want to pick up before Lightfall launches. Happy hunting, Guardian.
