Knotroot in LEGO Fortnite is an important resource for upgrading your tools and other equipment. This resource can be hard to get by, particularly for players in the early game, due to its unique location. You will likely be seeing regular wood instead of Knotroot out in the open, and if you’re having trouble finding one, here’s how to get it in LEGO Fortnite.
Where to find Knotroots
You can find Knotroots growing on the walls of caves found in the Grassland biome. You have to chop it off with an Uncommon Axe to get this resource. Pack some weapons and a torch because these caves are dark and filled with monsters.
Getting an Uncommon Axe is the hardest part of gathering Knotroot since it requires that you upgrade the Crafting Bench at least once, which requires that you progress in the game a little bit. Using the starter Common Axe isn’t going to do anything to separate Knotroot from the wall.
After upgrading the crafting bench to the point where you can make uncommon weapons, you’ll need x3 Bones and x3 Wooden Rods to make a single Uncommon Axe. Bones can be collected by defeating Skeletons, which spawn around at night. Meanwhile, Wooden Rods can be crafted by depositing Wood in the Lumber Mill.
The next challenge would be finding the caves in the grasslands. These are randomly generated in your world, so you’ll have to spot the entrance on your own. Caves can be pretty hard to spot, but they each have their own dedicated entrances that you can find.
The best way to find caves would be through on-foot exploration. As you discover new areas around the biome, the caves you discover will be marked on your map by a cave icon. You can then keep coming back for more Knotroot, should you need it.
From my experience, Grasslands caves normally stand out as huge rock structures that stick out in the fields. There’s an entrance where you can get inside the cave through a separate loading screen. Once you’re inside, it’s very dangerous, as caves are practically dark dungeons filled with special monsters.
