id Software has recently released the official Doom Eternal Horde Mode teaser trailer.
The new teaser trailer showcases what to expect in the upcoming Horde Mode that the game studio has been teasing for a while now. In a recent livestream, Doom Eternal Game Director Hugo Martin discussed what this game mode entails and when it will be released.
According to Martin, this will be the biggest free update for the game, which is aptly numbered version 6.66. It will be released on October 26, 2021 and will include the Horde Mode content. Aside from that, the “biggest free update” will include Battlemode 2.0 and two new Master Levels.
In Battlemode, players will be controlling the Doom slayer and will take on two player-controlled demons in round-based battles. In version 2.0, there is now a new arena and the new rewards that are streak-based.
Previously, id Software revealed that Horde Mode was a replacement for their supposedly planned multiplayer Invasion mode. Executive Producer Marty Stratton explained the reason for the cancellation, saying that it was due to unforeseen consequences of the pandemic and remote working. These reasons impacted the progress of the development for the planned content. They will now have to settle with this Horde Mode.
Doom Eternal is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
