PlayStation Gets Harassment Lawsuit from Former Employee While Activision Blizzard Controversy Still Ongoing

After Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan condemn Activision Blizzard for its controversy of sexual harassment and their bad workplace culture, a lawsuit was filed by a former security analyst.

Former Security Analyst Emma Majo has filed a new harassment lawsuit against SIE, according to a report by media outlet Axios. The case claims “Sony tolerates and cultivates a work environment that discriminates against female employees,” and their female employees are subjected to “disparate treatment in pay and work opportunities.”

The career progression of Majo was allegedly blocked by her superiors, she claims. She was fired from the company after she filed a complaint about discrimination. It seems SIE did not like her claims.

SIE claims that Majo’s termination was caused by a department being closed down, but in reality she had not worked for that team, not even once. The company’s actions have cause financial loss and non-economic damages including emotional distress. Majo’s lawsuit aims to recover to what she describes as “general compensatory damages in amounts to be proven at trial.”

No word yet on SIE’s reply and what it intends to do with the lawsuit.

The three big companies, SIE, Microsoft, and Nintendo, have now condemned Activision Blizzard for its actions. Jim Ryan, Phil Spencer, and Doug Bowser have spoken up representing the companies they are affiliated to.
