Game developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K recently confirmed that popular video game Borderlands 3 will be getting the next-gen treatment.
According to the developer, the third title of the series will be launch on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 when the next-gen consoles are available. The owners of the current-gen versions, however, will get an even better deal.
For consumers who own the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, they can get the free upgrade option. Compared to other games transitioning from the current-gen to the next-gen, this one will not cost a thing.
All content purchased and saves will be transferred to the next-gen console with the same account. The title will run at 60FPS at 4K resolution in single-player campaign. These new versions will include the highly-requested co-op features and will be free for all players. This will be the first time that everyone can play on four-player split-screen. For two-play co-op, they can choose between horizontal or vertical dividing of the screen. This option will also be added to the current-gen versions later on via free patch.
The game will also have more additional add-on content later this year. This time around it will be the brand new game mode and one new skill tree for each Vault Hunter with new Action Skills.
Also in related news, it seems Borderlands 3 will be coming to Nintendo Switch. The team behind Borderlands Legendary Collection, Fractured Byte, might be the guys behind this possible port later on.
Borderlands 3 is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
